World Literature Essay How the Physical Confinement of the Protagonists of the Stranger by Albert Camus and the Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka affects them on a psychological level In the Albert Camus's The Stranger and Franz Kafka's The Metamorphosis, the protagonists Meursault and Gregor Samsa feature contrasting personalities that can yet somehow be linked to one another. Over the course of the novels, both Meursault and Gregor face physical confinement and the outcome of this confinement on their personalities is sometimes similar yet sometimes extremely different. These effects on their psyche, to a large extent, are the reasons behind the endings of both books. An exploration of these psychological effects shall bring out important aspects of the characterisation of Meursault and Gregor and of the overall plots and philosophies behind the novels and prove that the key to escaping the confinement for both of them was acceptance of the futility of life and the inevitability of death. First Impression: * The first impression of the poem which I gathered from the title made me think that the poem was about appreciating nature however this was significantly different from the actual theme of the poem. * Upsetting, yet towards the end the tree is a symbol of hope and how 'good things' can still happen after 'bad things'. * One of the most noticeable things is the personification of the tree. [poem is directed to the tree; it's referred to as "you".] * Speaker is a Father talking about planting a tree to represent the death of his first born infant. Before we can answer which should be used on a specific skin type, we need to first briefly cover the different types of exfoliants and exfoliating techniques that are available. Firstly there is mechanical exfoliation. This involves 'sloughing' off the dead skin cells of the Stratum Corneum and Stratum disjunctivum, using either a tool (e.g. a brush or a sponge etc...) or a substrate such as oatmeal or rice. Results will depend largely on what type of abrasive is used, and how much pressure is applied during exfoliation.
