A WEE QUICK TALK IN L’ANGLAIS

THAT OLD FASHION THINGY!

Big brand names.  The looks.  The fashion.  The style.  All these add up to our place in modern day society.  Brand labels; they’ll always be there with their teasing looks.  From clothes to shoes and perfume to drink, everything has a brand label.  From the early days of fashion we have thrived to be looking our best at all times.  Wherever we go these days we’re bound to see some fancy title such as Nike or Adidas.  But do we really need them?  If yes, why?  It seems to be that these days’ people from the lower hierarchy of our society have at least one outfit with a fancy name!

If you were to walk into a school today for example, anywhere in the UK you would see that all students wear a uniform.  There are quite a number of advantages of wearing a school uniform, it can mean less hassle in the morning when trying to decide what to wear.  It can also mean less jealousy and animosity when it comes to designer brands!  On the other side there is also quite a number of disadvantages such as uniforms being dull and lifeless.  The main colour for uniform is blue.  Uniforms can be very dear.  For a designer label on a blazer, people can pay up to and over £100!  At the minute the biggest retailer of blazer is Marks & Spencer, their dearest blazer being around £50.00.  For a designer blazer or jacket, Gucci charge around a minimum of £600.  Here we can see the huge price gap and how big designer labels really are.  In the USA there is hardly such a thing as uniforms except for the odd food outlet or supermarket.  Students just wear their normal clothes everyday and judging from their reactions to each other in films etc, they don’t seem to bother about what they wear at all.

I think uniforms were a good as they can stop bulling quite a lot.  If over here in the UK the government decided to scrap uniforms, poor people would be in serious bother with their peers, as the bullying would kick straight into action.  I wouldn’t think too many students would go out and by a designer uniform costing over £1000!

The big brand label is very important in society these days.  Some of the top sportswear brands include Nike, Adidas and Fila.  Some of the cheaper brands would include Hi-Tech and active and some other Primark branded ...
