Isolation: - As it is in a very isolated place people aren’t going to be able to see it on the way to another attraction, where as you would if it was in the centre of Portsmouth. To make sure all customers are aware they need to make sure that they advertise in all the correct places to attract the right people.
Positive Impacts on the local community
Provides Education: - Fort Nelson offers various re-enactments which benefit the student as they learn and they are interested. They try and promote school visits; they are free of charge so money isn’t going to be a problem. They have lots of different displays with variety of information on it; this provides education to the customers.
Multiplier effect: - As Fort Nelson isn’t in competition with any of the other business and therefore they aren’t in competition with them, the other companies aren’t going to take business away from them. To maximise this they shouldn’t sell products that people close by are going to sell.
Holds Events: - Fort Nelson does offer the local community something different to do. They organise their events in the school holidays as this is the main time that most customers are going to be able to come to. They do also offer bigger and private events like weddings. The only way they can maximise these events is to offer more events and to make sure that they are for all ages.
Creates Jobs: - When Fort Nelson employs people to work there they will try to employ people locally so that they don’t have far to travel. To maximise creating jobs they could expand there business and they could also have more special events which more staff are going to have to be there as you will have more visitors.
Interest groups: - Fort Nelson has maximised there services to the public by offering activities that are specifically for people with special interests. This will mean that you will get different customers attending these one of events every time that they are on.
Queen Elizabeth Country Park
I will now tell you there positive and negative aspects and how they have tried to Maximise all of there positive aspects and minimise there negative impacts.
Negative Impacts on the local community
Crime rate increases now: - Crime rate may have increased since the Queen Elizabeth has been there. If this is the case to stop there being any trouble than they could put some CCTV cameras out and some security men and then this would help people feel a lot more calm. They have also cut the trees back so you can see if anyone is following you from all directions which is really good as the forest goes for miles.
Overcrowding: - Queen Elizabeth is never going to get overcrowded, as it is so big, and has so many different ways which you can go around it. The car park could get overcrowded though so I think that they should limit the amount of cars that can come in. They should also try and encourage people to travel buy the public transport.
Congestion: - If Queen Elizabeth did have problems with congestion, which they might in the summer as that is when it is busiest. Then they could add another car park so that will mean there are more space to park in, they could make some more cycle routes to get there and encourage people to ride, if the roads to get really congested then they could try and make people go down the slip roads.
Positive Impacts on the local community
Gives people a chance to see the countryside: - For people that live in the city and haven’t had the chance to see the country side. Queen Elizabeth has tried to make it as easy for those people to be able to see it. They have made it free of entry so anyone can go there. They could make the public transport better so that it is easier for people who can’t drive can get there.
Education: - Queen Elizabeth does offer a lot of education and they have tried to maximise the appeal to attract educational groups. They offer lots of activities which are led by rangers, so they are going to get the best out of there trip. They have a big cinema there which they have educational videos to show which can be interesting.
Special events: - Queen Elizabeth offer a lot of special events, but to make more people turn up to these events they could advertise and promote there events in the local newspapers as this would be the target market that you would be aiming for.
Creates Jobs: - When Queen Elizabeth wants new employees, they will only offer the job to local people, as they won’t want someone who has to travel over an hour just to come to work. This will be good for the local community as they will have more job opportunities.
Blue Reef Aquarium
I will now tell you there positive and negative aspects and how they have tried to Maximise all of there positive aspects and minimise there negative impacts.
Negative Impacts on the local community
Congestion: - As Blue Reef is in the centre of Portsmouth it is going to be very busy, if people try and drive there it could take a very long time. You could also have to take along time trying to find a car park space and could end up along way from Blue Reef. To stop some of the congestion Blue Reef could try and work with the trains or the bus companies and get discount if you use public transport down there.
Expensive: - Blue Reef could be classed as very expensive; it is the most expensive attraction out of all three. They could try and make ticket prices to be a little bit cheaper and therefore it will appeal to more customers. They could also offer money off if you travel with one of the public transport as lots of busses go down there so it will be easy to do.
Positive Impacts on the local community
Chance to see tropical fish: - Many people may not have had the chance to go to foreign countries and see all of the tropical fish that are on show at Blue Reef and then this is going to be a good opportunity to see them for a cheap price. To maximise this aspect they could try and get more tropical fish on show and more exotic ones.
Creates Jobs: - When Blue Reef wants new employees, they will only offer the job to local people, as they won’t want someone who has to travel over an hour just to come to work. This will be good for the local community as they will have more job opportunities.
Education: - Blue Reef does offer a lot of education and they have tried to maximise the appeal to attract educational groups. They offer lots of activities which are led by members of staff, so they are going to get the best out of there trip. They offer also special events to help make customers aware of a certain type of fish,
