Introduction:

In this handout we will firstly look at key background information on The Hilton Hotel Corporation then we will look more specifically at the Hilton Hyde Park.

Background information:

The Hilton Hyde Park hotel is managed by Hilton International, which is part of the Hilton Hotel Corporation. The Hilton Hotel Corporation was founded in 1919 by Conrad Hilton in Texas. It is the most acknowledged hotel brand, with over 2,800 hotels in more than 80 countries worldwide. They offer a choice of city centre, convention, airport and resort hotels in order to satisfy their various customer needs. The corporation includes many brands such as, Doubletree, Hilton Garden Inn, Hilton Worldwide Resorts and Hampton Inn.  

Ownership and Management:

The Hilton Hyde Park hotel was built in 1905, and is a leased building that is owned by the Royal Bank of Scotland. The manager of the hotel is Patricia Mahon.

Staffing:

There are forty-nine employees in total working at the hotel, this covers full-time, part-time and casual workers. Their employee turnover is 40% at present as told by the Front of House Manager. This is quite high and if this keeps increasing, it will be a threat to the business in the future as it will have a negative impact and affect their reputation.
