Henson Hotel
The food and beverage operations offered by Henson Hotel were quite good. We received two meals in the day, one was breakfast meal and the other was the evening meal. Breakfast was served at 8.30am and the evening meal at 5.30pm. The meals were served in a big room with plenty of space and seating. We had to go and choose what we wanted to eat and then bring our plates back to the table. At breakfast there was a choice out of full English, continental and vegetarian. The type of food was sausages, bacon, beans, egg, scampi, pies, toast, cereal, croissants, rolls and many other foods. The beverages we received at breakfast were orange juice, tea and coffee, but we were only aloud to pick one. The evening meal changed from day to day. There was a lot of food offered at the Henson Hotel.
Chester Youth Hostel
The food and beverage operations offered by Chester Youth Hostel weren’t bad. We only received one meal in the day, which was breakfast. But there were 3 meals available, breakfast, picnic lunches and an evening meal. Breakfast was served also at 8.30am the same time as the Henson Hotel. The meals were served in a canteen, which was of a reasonable size and plenty of seats. We had to also go and choose what we wanted to eat and bring it back to the table, which was the same as the Henson Hotel. The same food was on offer here as the hotel apart from scampi and pies. The beverages we received at breakfast were orange juice and water, the water was provided by jugs on every table. There was a lot of food and beverages on offer at the Chester Youth Hostel but not as many as the Henson Hotel.
Henson Hotel
The staff at Henson Hotel was very friendly and polite. When we got to the Henson Hotel Gordon and Angela greeted us, they are the owners of Henson Hotel and husband and wife. They were very friendly towards all of us while we were there and made us really feel welcome. The Henson Hotel in total has 10 staff, 2 restaurant staff, 1 chef, 5 bedroom assistants and Gordon and Angela. Gordon gave us a presentation while we were staying there and he said all his staff is great, and they work very well together as a team. I think the staffing levels are of a very high quality at the Henson Hotel.
Chester Youth Hostel
I think the staffing levels are of a good quality at the Chester Youth Hostel. They staff at the Chester Youth Hostel were polite and friendly but we weren’t greeted. They did make us feel welcome throughout our stay. There are 9 staff in total at the Chester Youth Hostel, 2 managers, 5 permanent staff and 2 part time staff. When we were at the Chester Youth Hostel we were given a presentation and we were told that when the hostel hires staff they look for good personality and good customer service skills, they said it is very important to them.
Conclusion
I was very impressed with Henson Hotel and the level of customer service they showed and also the accommodation services and food and beverage operations. I think they gave 100% commitment to all their customers. All the staff was very helpful and friendly. So if I compare Henson Hotel with Chester Youth Hostel I would say Henson provided us with much better customer service and accommodation services and food and beverage operations then the hostel.
