Show with example how British seaside resorts have been affected by changes in the number of people taking overseas holidays in the past 30 years.

Show with example how British seaside resorts have been affected by changes in the number of people taking overseas holidays in the past 30 years In the world we live in today, travelling abroad is just a normal thing; some people do it more than once a week for business purposes. In the 1930's and 1940's most working class people would have travelled to resorts in the UK and 9 times out of ten these would have been by the sea because this is where at the time all the entertainment happened and it was the "in" place to go at the time. However, since then less and less people tend to go to British seaside resorts for long holidays. This is mainly due to the effect of people taking over seas holidays. There are so many reasons for the change in type and destination of holiday today. In the past 30 years so many things have changed both in the travel industry and in peoples lives that has been the reason for this change in holiday and that has seen the increase in over seas travel. One of the main and biggest reasons for the change in my opinion is the price. This links in with a lot of other factors but point is that travel, particularly air travel has become so cheap. With low cost airline such as Easy jet flights abroad can start as cheap as £30 one way. It is because of this that more working class people can afford to travel. However, this factor as I said has a

Introduction The main purpose of this report is to introduce the idea of opening a new five star hotel, in Mykonos, an island located in Greece, in the Aegean Archipelago. In order to assess whether the opening of a new hotel will be a success or not, some factors have to be evaluated. Firstly, we have to analyze whether the population of the island and the infrastructure supports such a business, we have to search how many tourists are visiting Greece, and more specifically the island of Mykonos and what is the nationality of the majority of these tourists. Potential competition from other islands and the neighboring countries will also be an important matter to consider. Tourism in egypt: reasons behind its deterioration

ESSAY # 4 TOURISM IN EGYPT: REASONS BEHIND ITS DETERIORATION Tourism is important to each country, it is considered as the largest source that makes foreign currency flow into the country. Some countries have few tourist resources, such as Tunisia, and they are trying to develop them to attract visitors from all over the world. While there are other countries God has gifted them with the best natural resources or their history have added to their glory, such as Egypt. These countries are trying to preserve them to get the optimal benefit out of their treasures. In any country, tourism depends on the tourists themselves, who are defined in the work paper that was issued by the Egyptian Center for Economic studies as "visitors who stay at least one night in a collective or private accommodation in the country visited" visiting the country sceneries (qtd. in Tohamy and Swinscoe 8). The reason that makes any country fight to strengthen its tourism is because of its belief that tourism plays an important role in the economy of its nation. Take for example Egypt, which is one of the few countries that possess as both natural beauty and a glorious colorful history. Both these two elements have put it firmly on the global map of tourism. Egypt with all its magnificent amazing scenery, attractive beaches, museums and ancient historical monuments such as the Pyramids which is

essay on tourism

a) Describe the growth of international tourism during the second half of the 20th century. The growth of international tourism during the second half of the twentieth century has been phenomenal. The number of overseas visitors to Britain had risen to 1 million soon after 1950. It then rose to 2 million in in 1963 and then to 6 million in 1970. It then exceeded 15 million in 1987 and in 1990, the number of overseas residents made a record 18 million visits to Britain and the number of tourists has been steadily rising ever since. This is however, only one example of tourism growth. Throughout the entire world international tourism growth has taken place. The graph below shows the growth of international tourists worldwide and as you can see, since 1950-1999 the numbers of overseas visitors has gone from about 40 million in 1950, to 70 million in 1960. It has then gone from 190 million in 1970, to 300 million in 1980, to 500 million in 1990 and then finally to 700 million in 2000. This shows that international tourism has grown by about 17 times when compared with the number of international tourists in 1950. Between 1965 and 1993 there was a five fold increase in the number of tourists worldwide from 110 million to over 510 million, with a slight dip in the 1980's due to the worldwide economic recession.
