Personal Teaching Philosophy

with a widely diverse population of students, I realize that there is not one perfect picture for any one individual student.  To provide our students with the best learning opportunities, we must individualize, but still keep our standards high for all.  There are so many students that now come from broken or one-parent households, and we now are often teacher and family to many students.  For some, school is the safest and most supportive area they have in their lives.  If we do not realize this, we may not be completely developing the individual student we have.  This job will not be an easy one, but then again nothing in life is.  If I, as an educator and individual, can pass on what knowledge and experience I have gained and will continue to gain, I will be fulfilling what I feel my purpose is.  There will be difficulties and many questions of what to do and what is right or wrong in many classroom setting.  I have always believed in the “go with your gut” feeling on issues.  We all educated individuals who know right from wrong and must accept the responsibilities that go with our profession as educators.  Everything we say and do, or don’t do, may have a never-ending impact on that individual student and must keep that in mind with all of our words and our action.  I have always believed in two main things in life in general, respect is received when given and do unto others as you wish done unto you.  I think if we carry those two beliefs into our classrooms, we will help our students to develop their potential as individuals and will be carrying out our calling as educators.
