Women are a man's mother, sister, daughter, best friend, and lover. A woman can leave a character-altering impression on a man. An unhealthy or devastating relationship between a man and a woman can lead to a strife within himself. In the novel The Wars by Timothy Findley, the role of female characters causes internal conflicts in the male characters. This is made clear through Robert's relationship with his sister Rowena, the acts of Barbara d'Orsey, and finally the absence of a close relationship between Robert and his mother. Robert's first recollection of interacting with a woman, focuses on Rowena, his sister. Rowena is the first woman Robert can remember as a child. It is made evident from the beginning of the novel that Robert's relationship with Rowena is very important to him. Rowena suffers from hydrocephalus which puts her life in danger. It is impossible for Robert to be with Rowena all day, everyday. The day of Rowena's death Stuart takes her to the stables so she can play with her rabbits. It was Stuart's job to watch Rowena, so the death was "Stuart's fault but no -- it wasn't Stuart's fault. It was Robert's fault. Robert was her guardian and he was locked in his bedroom. Making love to his pillow" (Findley 21). Robert put all the blame of his sister's death on himself. He believes that it is his duty to make sure Rowena is safe. It seems

The two versions are very different because of the huge time differences and how Shakespeare had to use his imagination to create atmosphere rather than relaying on modern media techniques such as lighting, sounds and special effects. The main characters in Shakespeare's version of Romeo and Juliet in the last scene are Paris, Balthazar, Romeo, Juliet and Friar Lawrence. In Baz Luhrmann's version of Romeo and Juliet he misses out scenes, which were originally in Shakespeare's version. Baz Luhrmann misses out vital scenes, for example when Paris and Romeo have a fight. This scene was the original from Shakespeare's version of the play. The fight scene between Romeo and Paris was essential because it tells us what Romeo encountered before he got to Juliet and where she was laying. "I do defy thy conjuration and apprehend thee for a felon here." Another important character is Friar Lawrence he went to the tomb and found Romeo dead, Friar Lawrence was also there when Juliet was waking up from her deep sleep. "Romeo! O, pale! Who else?
