The aim of this essay is a proposal to investigate whether there are gender differences in effect to parenting style received whilst growing up, and see if it has an effect on the development of social anxiety

 The quality of social relationships is a strong predictor of later adjustment. Thus, it is crucial to identify those environmental factors that lead to appropriate versus deficient childhood social relations. Social anxiety causes difficulty with social interactions and is experienced through  of people,  the idea of being around and having to be watched or being interacted with,  and ing about being in social situations and being evaluated by others, is defined by british medical jounal as  an interferences with functioning or cause marked distress.  it’s basically associated with the pressence of other people and can be assoiciated with everyday life of speaking, eating, or doing anything that is done in public or carried out in the presence of others. Many people have social phobias and experience discomfort in social situations. Turner et al.,(1990) explains that social phobias are equally found in women as it is in men,  and appears a lot with other disorders and often found in relation  with generalised anxiety disorder, which include specific phobias,panic disorder and avoidant and compulsive personality diorders.

 Parenting style being a   construct, emulates the different ways by  which parents nuture their children.  is best known for her theories in parenting styles and her research identified four main parenting styles in early : authoritative, authoritarian, permissive and neglectful.

Authoritative parent are also democratic parents and they aim to help children learn to be responsible for themselves and allow them to review their behaviour in aim of learning from it. They set high expectations to parental rules and directions and make sure that they are followed through, they  allow open conversation about those rules and behaviors, and They do this in a warm and loving manner and seek to make the child the center of their lives, they give choices to the child and are very child focussed.

Authoritarian parents aim to control their children and set high expectations and give no choices on the rules and expectations. They do not show much expression of warmth and affection. They attempt to set strict standards of conduct and are usually very critical of children for not meeting those standardsThey are not very child focused aand the focuss is more on them.

Permissive parents do not exhert control over their children, and  their rules are not usually imposed or strict, they are very relaxed and take parenting day by day as it comes, they do not set routines, bounderies and expectations for their children behaviour, and children are accepted in warm loving w

Neglectful parenting or nonconformist is very much like permissive parenting, this style focusess more on the parent and their need instead of the child, their style usually pay no attention to their children's actions.
