Permissive parents do not exhert control over their children, and their rules are not usually imposed or strict, they are very relaxed and take parenting day by day as it comes, they do not set routines, bounderies and expectations for their children behaviour, and children are accepted in warm loving w
Neglectful parenting or nonconformist is very much like permissive parenting, this style focusess more on the parent and their need instead of the child, their style usually pay no attention to their children's actions.

Research Question
The purpose of this study is to investigate whether there are gender differences in effect to parenting style received whilst growing up has an effect on the development of social anxiety. Social anxiety plays a huge part of peoples lives and in some ways rules the way people live their lives, as reviewed in the information given above, gender differences in the effects to parenting style we received whilst growing up, has an impact on our social wellbeing and how our parents related to us will determine the way we act in social situations and the development of social anxiety. Previous studies have shown an association with parents who apply greater control over their children and the development of social anxiety. Thus I will be looking to find out if gender differences in the effects to parenting style we received have an effect on the development of social anxiety, I will focus on the gender of the parent and the style they used to rear a child, and see if the child developed any social anxiety in relation to this.
Hypothesis: There are significant but relatively small associations between parents who exert greater control and the development of anxiety disorders such as social anxiety.
Design
For this piece of research I will be collecting both primary and secondary data, in association with the parenting style we received, what gender the parent we received that was from and if there was any development of social anxiety.
This hopefully will be achieved through examining primary data collected, as well as the collection of the secondary data which should be able to provides accounts that can be investigated to so that theories can be tested .
Sample
For this type of investigation, I aim to gather information from all types of people, All genders, races, sexualities and beliefs will be included, information from these people will be useful as it will allow more accuracy with more members involved , there will be a restriction on age, due to the fact that younger children may not be able to asses the situation and give it proper meaning, and the fact that the questionnaires I will be using may ask questions that may be too advanced for their ages, such as ‘how they relate to the opposite sex’, for this reasoning all member must be the age of sixteen to forty, the reason for such a big age gap with the ages is so a broader views of parenting styles received, and because some will also be parents allow us to see what style they are using. The aim is to recruit around 1500 people to carry out the questionnaires and they will be divided into genders, aiming at 650 men 850 women to try and reflect the population. The way of collecting this information would be to try and ask as many people as possible if they would fill out a questionnaire in the university and if I don’t reach my number there I will take it to my local community, church and even try to recruit people of the internet. For the interview process I will go around recruiting people (preferably parents) who would not mind to be interviewed and the will be sought in the same place as for the questionnaire.
Procedures
This research will begin by the collection of numerous research in social social phobias and it’s relation to parenting style, then using the Simple random sampling (srs) selection of sample size will be obtained, my sample size is aiming at aound 2,000 people, so as at 95% confidence the sampling error would be 2.0%. when volunteers are found for the questionnaire, an informed consent form will be given to them to fill out witch will include a debriefing of exactly what the investigation seeks to do and a questinnaire aassessing Parenting style, which will Recall Parental Rearing Behaviour which assesses the subject's perceived parental rearing behaviour The composition of this questionnaire highlights on dimensions of rejection, emotional warmth, and overprotection. To look at the gender issues there will be a section in the questionnaire that gives a rating for mother and father.
To assess family functioning interviews will be carried out with parents using the McMaster Family Assessment Device, which is based on the McMaster Model of Family Functioning. The FAD assesses 6 dimensions of family functioning: problem solving, communication, roles, affective responsiveness, affective involvement, and behaviour control. The scale "general functioning" assesses the overall health/psychopathology of the family. The subject rates her or his agreement with how adequately the item describes her or his family. This is also found in a questionnaire form, but will be used as interview rather than a questionnaire, so as to make answers more meaningful because they will be on a one to one basis. All information will then be collected and tested This research will use the qualitative method due to the fact that the exploration of how certain events have an effect on people, and how the individual cope with the series of events. Qualitative research provides a greater insight into behaviour and identifies relationships and establishes meanings. Looking at method adapted it is obvious that the interpretation cannot take place through the use of one method but instead the research will use the coding method, because this is a theory led analysis it will allow categorisation of the themes and topics which will be analysed.
Due to the fact that Quantitative data is very simplified and does not provide the same amount of detail as I will be looking into human behaviour I will not use this type of research.
Materials
To bring in awareness social anxiety, and way it affects those that suffer with it on a daily basis , leaflets form the British psychological society will be derived and given to those participating, information of parenting styles will also be given, so as they can gain an idea of the why the question asked will be asked. The need would then arise to find the questionnaire of Recalled Parental Rearing Behaviour (German version, FEE), and the McMaster Family Assessment Device (FAD), which is based on the McMaster Model of Family Functioning, the intension would be to ask one of the psychology lecturers if they could get a copy of both questionnaire, if it is not possible, I will then have to buy a copy. A photocopier would then be use a to photocopy the questions, and the Recalled Parental Rearing Behaviour (German version, FEE) questionnaire would be given to participants whilst with the McMaster Family Assessment Device (FAD) a tape recorder would be needed, so interviews can be recorded, and no information will be missed, and all information will be written down afterwards, and the results of the parental rearing style calculated, so comparisons between interviews can be made, and categorised into similar themes, and conclusions drawn up about family functioning and how it affected children. Transcripts will then be read to gain an in depth understanding of the data collected. Themes would then be placed, so an analysis made to draw on similarities and differences of parental style and development of social anxiety.
Data analysis
The data on parental rearing style will be collected and then calculated as this would be in a questionnaire form, and the data on the McMaster Family Assessment Device (FAD) will be compared and coded for similarities and differences. Both data will be coded according to the variables which will be parental style, social anxiety level and gender which will then be compared to see if development of social anxiety would be visible, SPSS will then be used to compute the standardising variables, for analysis I seek to use Pearson’s correlation, as I feel this type of test will enable me to obtain the results for my hypothesis.
Outcome/ benefits
The purpose of this investigation is to find out if parenting style affects the development of social anxiety, if done properly and correct, information supplied can help parents in the way they raise their children according to parental style and health workers of child development, and other institutions such as mental health illnesses will be helped because, they can the teach parents which style of parenting should be so their children do not develop social anxiety then leading to other abnormal behaviour.
