Acid Rain

Egypt is a country of old civilization based in culture and located in northern Africa in the heart of the Arab world. It lies between latitudes 22° and 32°N and longitudes 25° and 35°E. Egypt has a population of over 69 million (2001) and is ranked the second largest populated country in Africa. It has a geographical area of 1,001,450 km2 of which about 4% is inhabited around Nile valley and delta. Egypt is at a stage where the quantity of water is imposing limits on its economic development. The present share is below 1000 CM/capita/year, and it might drop to 500 CM/Capita?year in th eyhear 2025, which would indicate "water scarcity" Most of land in Egypt is desert. Most cultivated lands are located close to the Nile banks, its main branches and canals. Presently, the inhabited area is about 12.5 million feddans (1 feddan = 1.04 acres) and the cultivated agriculture land is about 7.85 million feddans. The per capita cultivated land declined from about 0.23 feddans in 1960 to about 0.13 feddans in 1996. The per capita crop area declined from 0.4 feddans in 1960 to about 0.2 feddans in 1966. This sharp decline resulted in the decrease of the per capita crop production. Egypt is hot and dry with only two seasons scorcing summers and mild winters. Winter lasts from November to April, and summer lasts from around May to October. Daily temperature in the desert vary

Life Experiences at ELRI Program

Life Experiences at ELRI Program If there is anything about life that bewilders me the most, it is its simplicity. Life buds from anywhere there is energy and spirit, it does not need any support to grow and it prospers in spite of all the complexities around it. Life is a form of hope and faith, it breeds on that, and that is the only support system it requires to grow. It is as carefree as a green leaf swaying in the wind, as humble as the ground beneath us, as delicate as a flower bud, as strong as the mountains and as clear and transparent as the sky. What I have mentioned must have shocked us by now because we have heard the opposite of this all our lives. That life is a trick played on us by God, a maze that we try to figure out all our lives, and I do not disagree to any of that. It is a trick indeed; something as simple and plain as life seems to surround the world’s greatest optical illusion around it, it appears complicated to the most of us! It is a maze, in fact the most confusing one, but we often forget to enjoy the journey. We are trying to solve something that is not meant to be solved, but experienced. However, it is not a maze created by God, it is a way in the woods that we carve ourselves. ELRI helped me reaffirm my belief in the simplicity of life. It took me to a corner of the world where good energy and spirit promoted the life around it, the

Jane Eyre essay

Is Jane Eyre anything more than a superior, if idiosyncratic, Mills and Boon Romance? The guidelines for writing a Mills and Boon Romance novel state certain criteria, including that it should: ...deal with the love between a man and woman, a love that is resolved happily in the end. The emphasis is on the shattering power of that love to change lives, to develop character, to transform perception... Any situation may be used - from those that confront concerns such as divorce, affairs, illegitimacy or the problems of materialism, to those bordering on fairy tales.1 On first reading the novel it would seem that Jane Eyre does contain some of these characteristics: the incredible romantic attraction between Jane and Mr Rochester; their subsequent love affair; Jane's disinheritance and ultimate retrieval of her legacy; their marriage at the termination of the novel. However, Jane Eyre cannot be seen merely as a Romance, and it is the idiosyncrasies in the style in which it is written which characterise it as something distinctly unique in terms of Victorian literature. Jane Eyre was written in 1948 and can be said to fall under the genre of the Victorian Governess novel. These novels explore the concerns of the middle-class woman in employment in the nineteenth-century. At the onset of the novel we know that Jane is an outsider in the house of her cousins: she is

The Court System

MAJOR COURT HISTORY History and Impact of the Major Courts Norma West CJA 500 May 24, 2010 Steven Duplissis History and Impact of the Major Courts In 1787, the Founding Fathers formed the United States Constitution. Within the Constitution, two branches of the government were created that would distribute certain powers to both the state and federal levels of law. The federal and state court systems are both very important in the United States today. Both court systems are similar, but act very differently. In knowing the history of both court systems, one can clearly see the impact and influence both on a sate level, and nationwide. In the United States criminal justice system, the state and federal are the two main court systems. Within these two systems, there are several levels. The federal courts primary function is to "apply and enforce the federal laws created by Congress" while testing "the constitutionality of federal and state legislation and of court decisions" (Adler, Mueller, & Laufer, 2009, p.13). Two types of court systems exist within the federal courts: Article III and Article I. Article III includes the "1) U.S. District Courts, 2) U.S. Circuit Court of Appeal, and 3) U.S. Supreme Court. They also include 2 special courts: A) The U.S. Court of Claims and B) the U.S. Court of International Trade" (The Federal Judiciary, n.d.). The United States

reflective account

Introduction I will discuss a personal experience, which identifies the nurse/patient relationships and whether it was successful or detrimental. In addition, I will look at the module content, experiencing mental illness, and how relevant the module content was to inform my practice. I was working on a elderly dementia ward, specifically clients with challenging behaviours alongside the dementia. I aim to explore the clinical experience and explore my feelings about how the clinical situation transpired, and describe what I would do differently if I was in the same situation again. I will be using the Atkin's and Murphy's (1994) framework for reflection. Reflective Model The Atkin's and Murphy's (1994) framework for reflection goes through a six stage model. The first stage of the model is the new situation/experience. What is the new situation/experience?. The second stage then proceeds to look at your awareness of your thoughts and feelings surrounding the new situation/experience. The third stage asks you to describe the situation/experience, the key events/issues and your thoughts and feelings. The forth stage looks at your analysis and acknowledgement of your feelings, challenging assumptions and exploring alternatives to the situation. The fifth stage looks at the relevance and use of knowledge in the situation/experience. Finally, the sixth stage looks at the

Reflective account

Individual Reflective Account Word Count - 1,742 I worked as part of action learning set we had four group members to carry out a literature review relating to a health and social care topic. Our topic was smoking. The literature review was delivered as a group presentation and lasted fifteen minutes. According to BNET that is a website dedicated to issues of business management Reg Revans (1907-2003) pioneered Action Learning Sets as a management and organizational development tool. It is based on the premise that people learn best when they focus on a problem together. By sharing their prior knowledge and experience and by asking good questions based upon what they do not know, people can both solve a problem and learn from the experience. The Action Learning equation is written as L = P + Q where L is the learning that comes out of a combination of P-programmed or prior knowledge-and Q-insightful questioning. In our first meeting the group discussed the subject, by talking and relaying stories and sharing our knowledge of the topic. That then highlighted a problem, the problem that after discussion we realised that there was a mass amount of sub categories the subject could go into. Therefore there was far too much information for a fifteen minute presentation. We agreed on using our own experiences to break the topic down that then gave us work to explore individually

Science Coursework 2

Aluminium in Construction Aluminium is a product with unique properties, making it a natural partner for the building industry. Thanks to its strength, durability, corrosion resistance and recyclability, it has become an essential product for the building industry, over the past 50 years its use in building applications has shown continuous and consistent growth. Embodied Energy Embodied energy is the energy needed for procuring raw materials, manufacture, transport, construction, maintenance and repair. The total amount of energy needed can be high, typically accounting for 20% of the building's energy use during a 60-year life cycle, the equivalent of 10 to 20 times the annual energy use. Reducing embodied energy can reduce the overall environmental burden of a building, and provide pointers to reducing capital cost (1). Aluminium extruded, rolled, and cast products are commonly used for window frames and other glazed structures ranging from shop fronts to large roof superstructures for shopping centres and stadiums; for roofing, siding, and curtain walling, as well as for cast door handles, catches for windows, staircases, heating and air-conditioning systems. CO2 emissions are linked with the energy consumed in manufacturing building materials, aluminium is higher than average and glass is lower. On average, 0.098 tonnes of CO2 are produced per gigajoule of embodied

silas marner

Silas Marner Discuss the importance of the theme of Duty in George Eliot's novel Silas Marner. There is much evidence in the novel to show that duty is an important theme. There are various forms of duty illustrated and each main character has a duty to fulfil. George Eliot illustrates this through the characters and plot presented. Some characters are able to fulfil their duty and others aren't. Duty means showing consideration and responsibility for others. There are some characters that follow duty with this meaning, love and care there are others who think duty is irrelevant. A duty is a function that we have to follow, and a moral obligation to others. This is all true for this novel, but also it means to show kindness, generosity, and respect for the community, traditions and family. Godfrey is unable to do his duty; he neglects his wife, Molly, and his daughter Eppie. Molly has been abandoning Eppie. Dunstan Cass avoids his duty toward his brother Godfrey. Nancy Lammeter does her duty towards Godfrey and her family. Silas carries out his responsibilities for Eppie however Godfrey does do some duty to Eppie by supporting her financially and practically after deciding to neglect her. In this novel, the people are divided into two groups, those who neglect duty and those who honour it. Characters who neglect duty include the Cass family, the community at Lantern Yard

marketing report

The London Metropolitan consultants were asked to address a case study and analyse it. The chosen case study that the consultants chose is "Does the muffin herald a new ice age?". This case study is based on two different frozen food markets "Mc Cain" and "Birds Eye". These are two very different markets that offer different types of frozen food that would appeal to one consumer market but not another. Mc Cain offers its consumers frozen food that is most likely to appeal to teenagers and all or most of its products are made of potatoes and some pizzas. On the other hand Birds Eye also produces frozen foods but has much more variety as they include a range of seafood, vegetables, meat and pie. STEP factors affecting the frozen food market Organizations that develop products and services to be marketed domestically must consider the impact of external environmental factors that are Social, Technological, Economical, and Political. .1 Social- Consumers are very different, this means that when it comes to buying foods, they may be from different backgrounds or of a different class. Therefore this affects the way in which a product may be bought. Some consumers may only prefer home cooking to buying ready meals that Mc Cain's and Birds Eye have to offer due to
