Assignment two: E
Source I and source J are both written by Lloyd George, however they both have very different tones and opinions of what actually happened at the Battle of the Somme. The first, source I, written during the Somme battle, has a very positive tone and suggests the battle is a success. However, source J, also written by Lloyd George has a very different attitude, which unlike source I is negative. Source J which was written many years after the Somme, Lloyd George could have had more access to information which may have changed his mind. The difference in attitude and tone in both sources is obvious as source I states 'turned in our favor' which seems to show it was a success and source J states 'This offensive was already a failure' this shows the opposite tone to source I. So why did Lloyd George write so many different accounts?
