However there are disadvantages which the act has to the police force. These could be such things as there could be certain people who might be prejudice to someone’s religion, background, race and to any public service in particular the police who have had their notorious issues in terms of racism. Some individuals do not know the needs and understand the expectations of other individual’s beliefs which may cause discrimination amongst each other.
The stop and search has had a very bad image on the police. This is because the black and Asian community feel that they are being aimed for and discriminated against. The black community say that they are the first people who the police search when they are looking for drugs and weapons like wise the Asian community says that they are first people to get searched or stopped for terrorism. This has many affects on the recruitment status of the police, one being that the black and Asian community would not feel that the police force is where they would want to work. To prove that they are the main targets of the police the black and Asian communities could refer to the static figures of the stop and search. This also has the downfall that the police and both the communities wouldn’t get along very well together and starts disputes between them.
The introduction of the equality act is very crucial in the public services. The 3 main public services which include police service, fire service and the ambulance have a really big responsibility to serve and protect the public in which ever way they can. This means that all the members of the public service are highly trusted in the service that they represent. For the public service to get their tasks done they would have to work in a team and to have a team which is not diverse in the term of different gender, race and religion can have a massive downfall to the team. So therefore for the team to be diverse, which is what the introduction of the policy was aiming for, would be better. To have the policy helps.
The general public really think that this policy is good especially the people who were being discriminated against say that has had its positive affect and also has done the intended job.
Overall I think that this policy is good due to it doing its intended job. I think that it has opened up doors to many ethnic backgrounds in all sorts of places including the public services. This policy has helped to form a diverse community and has helped individuals to be able to respect other people’s beliefs.
Environmental Change Policy
The environmental change policy was introduced by the government due to the global warming issues for the future. The policy wasn’t only introduced due to global warming but it was also made due to nature being destroyed by people, such as the cutting trees down in the forests. This issue was created now so that the future of the environment is kept good.
This policy has made the public service become aware of the situation that they are in and started to make them recycle the waste resources such as glass, paper and plastic. The public services now have to maneuver whilst they protect the environment, this would be a hard situation for the police if they had a serious crime in progress.
The affect that this policy has had on the police is that they now have to use computers to store information this is an advantage as well as a disadvantage to the police because information could get stolen. The other disadvantages are that the police wouldn’t have enough resources at times such as enough computers and work equipment to be able to complete their tasks.
The stuff that the public services have gained from the impact of this policy is that they are organized and are now able to keep all the records and documents in a single place without the use of paper. This means that there are less trees being cut to make paper. The bad impact of this policy being introduced to the public services is that they need more equipment and electronics which would take a big sum of money out the budget of the police.
The general public says that this policy is a good start to saving the environment. They say that the policy is been followed by not only the public service but by everyone. I think that the policy has done what it was aimed for because since it has been introduced people have been recycling their waste into different sets of bins, this includes the public services they also have started to recycle their waste.
