Equality Act

The Equality Act, which came into force at the beginning of February 2004, seeks to restore this problem. The purpose of the Act is to foster equality and increase the protection provided by law to those who have experienced discrimination.

The Equality Act prohibits discrimination based on age, racial or ethnic origin, citizenship, language, religion or belief, conviction, opinion, state of health, disability, sexual orientation or other personal characteristics.

The equality act has a big impact on all of the public services. In every single public service you would get people who are from different ethic background, ages, sex, and religion. In the public services they all would have to get along with each other and respect each others beliefs, regardless of all the differences.
