Break was always fun. Someone usually brought in his or her doom ball. John Munk had brought his in that day. Everyone congregated in the yard to play. Mel was especially good at dodging the ball. Like a humming bird around nectar, the ball hovered in front of me. I pulled back my foot and let loose a ferocious shot. It shot forward with quite some speed and velocity and cannoned into the side of Mark. He was knocked down instantly and walked off, a little disappointed at being eliminated so early in the game. Luckily I managed to last a little longer, but eventually Mel got me out. She actually went on to win the game by eliminating John Munk.
Third period was PE, and that day we were playing football. I was placed in goal for the first half, I saved a penalty and tipped a curling free kick over the bar. In the second half I was a defender; this was my favourite position. When the ball hovered in front of me, I just either passed it to a player, if there was sufficient time, or if someone was bombing down the field at me I’d just let loose a doom ball special. Those always made them think twice about using that approach again. Our team eventually won by just one goal. After a poor clearance, Luke scored with a tremendous volley from the edge of the eighteen-yard box.
For lunch we all met near the entrance, eating our sandwiches at the picnic tables. We chatted for a while afterwards. Mark, who was absent that day as he was ill, would normally sit with us. The conversation wasn’t very interesting so I idly switched on my contact television to watch the highlights of the football. The match was between the mighty Newcastle United and the nausea inducing Manchester United. Newcastle won by one goal to nil, and although I already knew the score, I still enjoyed watching the match.
After lunch, it was double I.T. In this we were learning how to use a particular model of the holographic PC. At the beginning of each lesson you had to put on your PC gloves. That day was different however, as we were the first class to test these new PCs and were therefore allowed to wear the company’s gloves. The keyboard looked different to the standard one, it seemed much smaller to me. All of the suddenly room became engulfed in silence as we typed away on the transparent keyboards, while also gazing wildly into the luminous screens. For the last fifteen minutes of the lesson we were allowed to use the PCs for anything we’d like, I checked my emails, I had received my weekly holographic goal highlights. Afterwards I visited a football website which had a really cool game on it, the game allowed you to play a game of two touch football with an online opponent.
On the way home I took a short cut through the industrial estate, whizzing past the robot designers, in the direction of the hover car designers. I stopped at the hover board designers, it was usual for them to offer great discounts if you visited them direct. I was looking to up-grade my board, so I hopped off my hover board and asked the receptionist if they had any special upgrades available at the moment. There was only one that was of any interest to me, and that wasn’t for the board itself, it was a new pair of hover board shoes. They were really cool.
When I arrived home, the cyborg housebot took my bag. He emptied out my day’s books and replaced them with the books that I’d need for the following day. He then placed the homework I had on to my desk ready for me to do. This done, and I then watched television until my mother arrived home from work. When my tea was ready, I switched off the television and folded it back into the space in the wall. My mother took the enormous trouble of making Sunday roast, even thought it was Tuesday. I think that she just needed to do something independently for once instead of having the cyborg housebot doing everything for her.
After tea I logged into the virtual reality world of IGG (international global gaming). There I chose to play pool; even though it is quite an old game it is still intriguing! At approximately 10-15pm my mother tapped me on the shoulder; I got such a fright because I didn’t hear her enter the room. As it was getting late and I did after all have school the next day, she said it was time for bed. I went up to my bedroom and watched my television until I fell asleep. The television then put itself away!
