Using Cell Phone (Rough Draft)

"There are no established health effects from cellular phone radio waves or transmitters that operate within FCC or state guidelines," says HSPH researcher Peter Valberg, adjunct faculty member in the Department of Environmental Health. The use of cellular phones has skyrocketed in recent years, with more than 117 million subscribers in the United States as of July 1, 2001. The number of people who is using cell-phone is increasing more and more everyday because it is an accessible way to communicate with other people. However, it is a distraction to many people at some places, and it also affects the driver’s performance.

Many people feel really annoy when they heard a phone ring from someone while they are trying to concentrate on doing something. It is an impolite action if you leave your cell phone’s ringing tone on when you are at a certain places that is inappropriate. The ringing sound can distract people when they are trying to concentrate on doing something else. Across the globe, cell phone’s ringing sound disturbs when we are at a theater such as plays, concerts and films. For example, yesterday when I was watching a movie at Mission Valley Theater. I heard about three phone rings from the back of me. I felt really annoyed because the ringing sound distracted me from listening to the actor’s conversation. Even in a special occasion such as wedding. Once I was at this wedding, while the priest was praying my friend’s phone rang. She was stunt when she heard the ringing sound and everyone was looking up at her in an annoying way. She was so embarrassed that she had to leave the church. Some of the people leave their phone tone on when they are at a funeral. For example, three months ago when I was at my aunt funeral. While everyone was looking down, there was a phone ring from behind me. It was my sister's cell phone, and I know that she felt really embarrass.

All forms of cellular phone usage lead to significant increases in response times or non-response to highway traffic situations. All of the people that I know talk on the phone while they drive. Whenever I was in their car and when they talk on the ...
