Layout of staff that would be needed in my nursery
Manager: - I would want a manger to be responsible for the running of the nursery and answering to the owner (ME). To ensure that the other team members manage their time effectively and that each person has an appropriate amount of responsibility. I would pay the manger the most wages as she/he would be running the nursery.
Deputy Manger: - I would want the Deputy Manger to be responsible to the manger and assume responsibility of the daily running of the nursery in the mangers absence. I would also like the Deputy Manager to probably have some specific responsibility, such as duty rotas or nursery curriculum
Experienced Nursery Nurse: - I would prefer an Experienced Nursery Nurse so they are the department leaders who are experienced early years workers, which would be responsible to the Deputy Manger and would want him/her to lead their teams in daily running of their departments, having initial contact with children and parents.
Nursery Nurse: - I would like a nursery nurse to achieve the best, whilst in my nursery, I would see them as having less experience and responsible to their department leaders, but I would help the Nursery Nurse to become experienced. They would help implement the care of the children in the nursery, liaise with parents and key workers, and work within the guidelines of the nursery’s Policies and Procedures. They may help to mentor any students or trainees in their care.
Students/Trainees: - I would like students and trainees to be part of my tem, they would be closely monitored by the staff members who will help them work with their professional development.
Administration, catering, care taker and domestic staff: - I would employee these as I wouldn’t expect the other members of staff to cook, clean etc as they would already have there job, and be doing/meeting their job title. These would be responsible to the manger and deputy manger ensuring that the administration at the nursery is smooth. It is kept clean and food provided meets nutritional requirements.
Children and Parents: - I would want the parents to feel confident that their children will have a safe and stimulating stay in Little Angles Nursery, if the team implements their areas of responsibility efficiently and the team members communicate clearly with each other.
First Aid: - (Beaver M 1999) ‘First Aid training saves lives’ I would make it essential that 2 members of staff would be qualified First Aidders. I would really prefer if all the adults working with the children have First Aid Training.
Policies and Producers: - I would display all the acts round the nursery e.g. Children Act 1989, Race Relation Act 1976 etc around the building and would ensure that all staff agreed with them, if they didn’t I wouldn’t employ them.
I would walk round the nursery to ensure that health and safety has been met, so the children are prevent from any accidents and that they enjoy there stay at Little Angles.
My team: - I have made my team, and hope that it would effectively, I would have group meeting’s to ensure the staff are alright for equipment, and I would have one-to-one meetings every month to ensure the team is working well together and endure that everything is running sufficiently.
I would like all different types of people, e.g. backgrounds, race, age, sex, personalities etc, but I wouldn’t want anyone the feel discriminated against sue to the person they are, I would like all cheerful, understanding, honest and reliable staff so the children feel safe.
