Extracts from this document...

Introduction

´╗┐Explain how the situation has quickly got out of hand. Who or what is responsible for this: Romeo; Juliet; or the bad feeling between the families. The deaths of Tybalt and Mercutio are the result of how quickly things got out of control between the two families. Before the unfortunate events, Tybalt and Mercutio?s death, both families despised each other, ?Nay, as they dare. I will bite my thumb at them, which is disgrace to them if they bear it.? but they never acted upon this hatred, but then things quickly took a turn for the worse. Both deaths could be considered the fault of Juliet, Romeo or the bad blood between the families. In this essay I shall describe how it could be each of their faults and then I will conclude who is the most at fault. ...read more.

Middle

Romeo killed Tybalt; therefore he is responsible for his own actions. Also, if he hadn?t have been such a love-obsessed fool and married Juliet, Tybalt and Mercutio wouldn?t have died. However, I don?t think it was entirely his fault. The bad blood between the families had ran very deep and while Romeo was growing up, he looked up at his parents as role models, as any young child would do. Due to the fact that they had been bickering with the Capulet family, he may have thought that killing Tybalt was acceptable. ?From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.? Although Romeo did kill Tybalt, if there wasn?t any bad blood between the two families in the first place, this wouldn?t have happened. ...read more.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I don?t think it was Juliet?s fault because she cannot control who she falls in love with nor can she control her lover. I also don?t think it is Romeo?s fault because he was influenced by his parents views on the Capulet family in his youth and an eye for an eye regarding Mercutio?s death. He was also suffering from emotional trauma at the time so he may have acted rashly. I think it is the bad feeling between the families and the parents fault that Tybalt and Mercutio died. This is because if there wasn?t any bad blood in the first place the situation wouldn?t have arisen and Mercutio and Tybalt would still be alive. In addition, had the parents decided to end the rivalry and not bring their children up to despise the other family, again Tybalt and Mercutio wouldn?t have died.
