I was floating like a spaceman. Around me where files and posters and wires and photos. Messages shot across my head from all over the world. Many languages I didn’t know, as they criss-crossed like shooting comets, barely missing me. In the distance I heard a strange noise like nothing I’ve ever heard before. I looked around in panic. As I twisted I found myself upside down unable to get my bearings. The noise was getting louder my eyes widened I could feel my heart pounding against my chest. Grghh! Crunch! Shift! Then I saw them from the corner of my eye, menacingly getting closer. Their dark, red faces contained a single evil eye which darted to and fro like a hunter’s scope, looking for easy prey to contaminate. My dad had warned me about going on certain sites where I would be in danger of catching the sin of a virus. And there they are! Devouring messages and files destroying photos and memories, defiling privacy, spreading their evil across the world. Fear gripped me like a coat of ice as I floated helplessly as they got nearer and nearer.
My whole life flashed across my eyes I saw myself as a child, my dad pushing me on a swing, my mother baking cakes, me scoring a goal. They say this happens when people are about to die. They were now inches away from my face. I could feel them snapping at my feet. I don’t know where they came from or what happened.
My eyes were blinded the light was brighter than anything I had ever encountered. It took a good while for my eyes to calm down and there I saw them, scurrying away in the distance. With the look of dread in their eyes. It was standing behind me; I could feel its breath. I was too scared to turn around. If it frightened off those monsters what would It do to me?
Gingerly I turned around, part of me not daring to look. I could feel its Breath on my face. I could smell a very strange smell, sweet yet light, unintrusive yet uninviting. It was the size of the wings which caught my eye
At first semi spread in their splendour, strong and bold as a giant swan.
Her face was sallow, yet mildly stern. Her eyes looked at me with compassion In their steely blue light. I stared floating mouth open wide unbelieving frozen in shock, in her right hand she held a large shield and her right Hand she brandished a sword, “will she chop my head off?” I wondered. Her lips broadened in a half smile.
“I’m your virus angel. The one you wouldn’t install the other day. Your
Father was right. They nearly had you that time. You’re lucky I came along in Time.”
“I thought I was going to die, I could feel them snapping at my feet.”
I stammered.
“My shield has sent them on their way and I will start a firewall around you
to protect you in the future, as long as you protect your machine”
I felt a sharp pain in my head I was lying on the floor my bed clothes
Scattered around me, I sat up quickly; I looked across the room my computer Was sitting there, innocent as the rain drops contained to patter against my Window. I scratched my head, bemused, when my bedroom door creaked open, It was Mum.
“If you don’t get up soon you’ll be late for school, and your breakfast is
On the table”
I was dazed and confused. I really believed it was Saturday. Now I don’t
Believe my parents when they say Angels don’t exist.
