The Glass Menagerie
Letter from Laura to Tom as a respond to a letter she received from him after he left.
Dear Tom,
When I received this letter in the plain envelope without sender this morning, the first thought that came into my mind was: a letter from Tom and my heart began to beat faster. Fortunately my feeling was right. As you maybe can see in my handwriting I am still trembling. Finally I got a ,message from you! Believe me, I was very concerned about you. There was no single day when I was not thinking of you, wondering where you are and what you are doing, and missing you. The day you left my whole world was pulled up site down. I couldn´t find a reason for which it was worth to live anymore. You are not only my brother but also the only friend I have. Tom, I am honest with you about my feelings I had when you left but I don´t want you to feel bad or guilty. I understand the reasons you told me in your letter which caused you to leave. I know you were not able to live your own life at home and I also understand that you couldn´t stand mother anymore. Of course I whished you would have talked with me about you plans. Surely it was a difficult situation and decision for you too and you knew which way you had to handle it. Brother, don´t worry I don´t have any reason to hate you or to blame you because you left. I completely accept your excuse. Thank you for letting me hear from you and for telling me about your experiences you made in South America. I wish one day I can go there with you and then you show me all the wonderful places you have visited.
