Who was to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s deaths?

    Romeo and Juliet both committed suicide in the end, so they were responsibly for there own deaths. However there were factors that contributed to their suicides. They could have been responsibly for their deaths or Lord and Lady Capulet, the nurse, Tybalt, Friar Laurence or something far greater: Fate!

    You could blame Romeo and Juliet for their own deaths. You could argue that they weren’t truly in love and that Romeo is fickle. Friar Laurence believes that Romeo does not truly love Juliet but is physically attracted. ‘Is Rosaline, whom thou didst love so dear, so soon forsaken?’ Romeos love for Rosaline was so quickly forgotten that he must be fickle. I believe Friar Laurence thinks that they are getting married to quickly and when he bids farewell to Romeo he says: ‘Wisely and slow: they stumble that run fast’ this has a double meaning for Romeo is in a hurry and the Friar is telling him to slow down and I think it could mean if they rush into there marriage they could fall down.

   There families don’t help the matter with their feud. Capulet I feel is mostly responsible for Juliet’s death because of his fury. He was originally against County Paris’s marriage to Juliet because he feared she was too young. He gives Paris consent to marry her as long as she consents. Then in Act 3 Scene 5 he explodes at Juliet because she refuses to marry him. This Outbreak could come from Tybalt’s Death or his passiveness earlier in the play was just a cover up in front of Paris so not to show the real power hungry him. Capulet ...
