Alan Turing

Alan Turing was a code breaker and contributed to computing by contributing to the design of electromechanical machines (bombs).  These were then in turn used to decipher the enigma; this is the code by which the Germans used to protect their radio communications. Was born on 23 June 1912 at 2 Warrington Crescent, London W9, died 7 June 1954 at his home in Wilmslow, Cheshire.

Charles Babbage

Charles Babbage was important to the history of computing because he contributed to the design of the computed by using his analytical machine.  His previous Difference Engine was a device intended for the production of tables. He was born on December 26, 1791 in Teignmouth, Devonshire UK, and died 1871.
