THE unsolved murder of Lesane Parish Crooks, more widely known as Tupac Amaru Shakur has finally been solved.

Despite the public setting of the event no one was ever arrested for the murder. A large amount of his followers believed this to be because of racial discrimination. Police however argue that they did all they could and witnesses refused to co-operate. They also contend that a lot of Tupac associates, like the man himself, had criminal records and displayed a lot of hostility towards the police. Jared Lewis, a Modesto police detective explained “Gang homicide investigations are very complex, I can understand how it ended up the way it has”

Tupac was often referred as the “worlds greatest rap artist”. He was one of the worlds most successful and yet most criticized  “gangster rappers”. He had support from black leaders, including the Rev. Jesse Jackson, who visited him in the hospital, and the Rev. Al Sharpton, who counselled him in prison.

"I found him a very warm, sensitive and intelligent, person, very unlike his public image," Sharpton said late Friday. "I hope in the midst of this tragedy, we can put together an aggressive and strong drive against violence among young people and dedicate it to Tupac's memory."

Some fans believed the moment of his death was foretold in his music, Lyrics from songs such as “If I Die Tonight” included: "I'll live eternal/Who shall I fear/Don't shed a tear for me nigga/ I ain't happy here. I hope they bury me and send me to my rest/ Headlines readin' murdered to death."

Although the star himself may be dead his music still lives on. Tributes to rapper are made each year and his popularity has not decreased, on the contrary he is even more renown now then ever. Tupac Shakur will always be remembered as one of the most controversial and talented rappers of all time.
