In this AT1 our class is working on is Burning candles, which is meant that our aim for the investigation is to look at the relationship between the length of reaction and the amount of reactant.

  Method  

• First get apparatus and set out and check the safety e.g. wearing goggles and hair tied up ect…
• Then chose five to six different sized jars and measure each and recorded our results on a table.
• After everyone chose their part of the work like I (Urmila) chose to time and Zina recording the time of burning.
• We did all the test three times to get an average burning time for each jar and recorded them on our tables.

• Bunsen burners hole is closed when lighting or not using.

Fair Test

In a fair test we need to make sure that the candle was kept the same and we used the same method for each jar test. Also that we started (timed at the time the jar was put on top of the candle) and ended the time the candle stopped burning) at the right time.

Conclusion

From the information on the graph the conclusion I have come to is that the curved line shows a steady rise in the time the candle takes to burn but the line straightens but a bit which shows that the rate the candle burns at will slows down. The prediction I made was that the more oxygen surrounding the candle the more time it takes to burn down. The graph and table shows that the prediction I made is true. The larger the jar the more time it takes to burn down.  

Evaluation

This is the end of the investigation and here are the rights and wrongs that happened during the time I spent on experiment with group and my work. What came out right was that we did our experiment very good and followed the method and made sure that the results were close plus that everyone did do something when doing the experiment. The only thing that had gone wrong was that there were to many people in our group I find it hard to do the timing as we had 5 instead of 3-4.In my work which I find quite easy to do was the begging of the work e.g. introduction, prediction ect but what I would have wanted help on most and what I thing needs more in improvement is that the graph drawing was needed help on as I need help but a my teacher were both away on trip or absent so I got help of a friend.
