Introduction

TOK ASSIGNMENT 10/09/2007 Thesis: Have P.E lessons in a program Physical education (P.E) is the study relating to the transmission of physical knowledge and skills to an individual or a group, the application of these skills, and their results. Many opinions have been put forth as to whether exercise is necessary or even beneficial to the program. In order to give an adequate assessment as whether all secondary institutions should make it compulsory we have to look at the health benefits it may bring, look closely at the academic performance it may raise and how an individual can become socially adjustable. Physical education is just like oxygen that we breathe. Air is neglected by people but it is the most important thing for all the people and for the most of the living beings. Teaching academic concepts through the physical modality may nurture children's kinesthetic intelligence. ("Benefits Of Physical Education," 10/09/07). Conclusion

It enables scholars to attain leadership skills by taking active part in these lessons. It develops the feeling of co-operation among the people. It contributes to the development of movement and co-ordination and helps prevent and control feelings of anxiety and depression. ("Physical Activity and Youth," 10/09/07). Team games and play promotes positive social integration and facilitates the development of social skills in young children. Play, games and other physical activities give young people opportunities for self-expression, building self-confidence, feelings of achievement, social interaction and integration. These positive effects also help counteract the risks and harm caused by the demanding, competitive, stressful and sedentary way of life which is so common in young people's lives today. ("Physical Activity and Youth," 10/09/07). I would like to conclude that physical education should be present in our educational program as it brings about many positive changes in a students life. The patterns of physical activity acquired during childhood and adolescence are more likely to be maintained throughout the life span, thus providing an active and healthy life.
