“IT- Key to a Brave New World”

As we embark on the dawn of a new century there is much that can be said about how I.T. has changed our society over the last fifty years. One wonders how this will continue to develop changing our day-to-day lives in so many ways. Computers are finding their way into every aspect of people’s lives today. If this development is to continue at such a rapid pace as it has for the previous decade, it is quite possible that the world may undergo more fundamental change within the upcoming decade than in the rest of the last century.

IT-information technology as by a dictionary is simply defined as the use of technologies from computing, electronics, and telecommunications to process and distribute information in digital and other forms. This seems quite simple at the present moment however considering computing, electronics, and telecommunications were thing of fiction a century ago, one can only speculate how this will change over the next century.

From their earliest birth in the 1970s, computers have wheedled their way into the very heart of public, commercial, academic life. Computer hardware and software continue to evolve rapidly with much of the recent past's state of the art now obsolete or, at best. As this rapid growth continues one must consider how it is affecting us and the world we live in today. People are now living in a consumerist driven world were everything is thrown away and considered obsolete with the arrival of more powerful computers.

Computers are today present in all most every possible place one could imagine. They are beginning to take over our lives and change our own morals and ideals. Society is beginning to change along side this with mobile phone and email one can be literally anywhere in the world but still in contact with family and friends also having access to endless information on the Internet. One can undoubtedly say this would be like a new world to previous generations.
