Macbeth acted more evil than lady Macbeth as time went on because she realised that she had done some evil things and she regretted them, but Macbeth had to keep doing evil things to cover up the killing of king Duncan. The second person Macbeth had to kill was Banquo for two reasons: The first was that banquo was starting to work out that macbeth was responsible for the murder of king Duncan “ thow has it now King, Cawdor, Glamsis, all, As the weird women promised, and I fear thou played’st most foully for’t” and this scares Macbeth. The second is because of the last prediction the witches gave to Macbeth and Banquo, which was Banquos sons, would be king after Macbeth. Macbeth didn’t wont this to happen either, so he asked two murders, that hater Banquo because he sent them to prison, to kill him.
When Macbeth went back to the witches for the second he got told to be ware of Macduff by the first apparition. Due to this Macbeth wanted to kill Macduff “ Macduff, what need I fear of thee? But yet ill make assurance dabble sure and take a bond of fate: how shalt not live”. When Macbeth found out that Macduff had fled Scotland to England, Macbeth went after the next best thing and he got Lady Macduff and her son killed to try and bring macduff back to Scotland.
In Lady Macbeths first scene in the play, after she has read the letter, She starts to call evil spirits to ‘ change’ her, And being the operative word because we have no evidence of her being evil before she read the letter but also we have no evidence of her being a model wife. I think shakesphere doesn’t bring lady macbeth into the play to make us think of her as the ‘perfect’ wife and has been changed after reading the letter and being filled with ambition and desire to become Queen and create a better lifer for her and Macbeth “ come you spirits that tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here and fill me from crown to the toe topfull of the direst cruelty; make thick my blood” this is the first evil thing that Lady Macbeth says and if you break the Quote down to the part with “from crown to the toe topfull of direst cruelty” this says that she wants to make her head, or brain the cruellest part of her. The part that says “ unsex me here” means that she wants evil spirits to remove her gentler feelings and make her feel nothing about what she is going to do in the rest of the play, But this doesn’t work because in Act 2 scene3, she faints and I think that this is when the evil spirits leave her body. After this she never really recovers as you see in Act5 scene1, when she is sleep walking and thinking about the evil things that she and Macbeth have commited “ out dammed spot! Out, I say! One, two” she is counting the spots from Duncans death. This is the last time you see Lady Macbeth because here conscience plays on there mind she committed suicide.
In conclusion to this essay I think that Macbeth was more evil than Lady Macbeth because Lady Macbeth realised that what she had done was wrong and that lead her to commit suicide. Where Macbeth only repented just before he was killed.
