Were Macbeth and lady Macbeth really evil?

Through out the play you see many scenes where Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are committing evil deeds, in this essay I hope to show what I think, using quotes and analysing the play to back up my views and thoughts.

        The first thing I am going to talk about how Macbeth was turned, this was down to lady Macbeth, she started trying to persuade Macbeth to kill King Duncan, the only problem is that Macbeth is a warrior and has devoted his life to guarding his king and has grown to love King Duncan, like he was his brother. So why, so why was he persuaded so easily? and why did he kill King Duncan?, I don’t think that he does, as you can see in his last speech before he goes and kills king Duncan because he says “art thow a dagger of the mind, a false creation, proceeding from the heat-oppressed brain? This shows that he is worrying about what he is about to do to his king and friend for many years. Lady Macbeth is still driving Macbeth forward, you see this by the bell ringing, this is very cleaver stagecraft being used by Shakespeare using a bell as an invite for Macbeth to kill king Duncan.

        Macbeth acted more evil than lady Macbeth as time went on because she realised that she had done some evil things and she regretted them, but Macbeth had to keep doing evil things to cover up the killing of king Duncan. The second person Macbeth had to kill was Banquo for two reasons: The first was that banquo was starting to work out that macbeth was responsible for the murder of king Duncan “ thow has it now King, Cawdor, Glamsis, all, As the weird women promised, and I fear thou played’st most foully for’t” and this scares Macbeth.
