Internet:
Messenger:
- What is this? - Messenger is form of communication between two or more people based on typed text over the internet.
- How you use it-I use msn to keep in touch with all of my friends and family. The Xbox 360 also has a messenger section.
- Advantages-Using messenger is cheaper than using your mobile phone and you can also talk to a certain amount of people at the same time.
- Disadvantages- The downside of using messenger is that people can send on viruses through files.
Email:
- What is this? – Email is where you can communicate electronically on the computer.
- How you use it – I use email to send my work to teachers.
- Advantages – Some of the advantages of using email are that it is fast and that it’s also inexpensive.
- Disadvantages – The disadvantage of using email is that the sender could send viruses and malware through attachments if recipient doesn't scan it.
WWW:
- What is this? – WWW is the World Wide Web; it consists of internet sites that offer text, graphic, sound and animation resources.
- How you use it – I use the World Wide Web to help me with my homework, or use it for playing games; you can also watch official music videos on Youtube. The World
- Advantages – The advantages of using World Wide Web is that it is an easy way to sell online and buy things online. With World Wide Web you can buy and sell thing on the internet.
- Disadvantages – The disadvantage of using the World Wide Web is that it’s not always true and that some websites can be biased, like a phone company trying to sell you a mobile. Using the World Wide Web could also give you viruses, like if you visit an iffy site.
Social Networking Sites:
- What is this? Social networking is when you use a website to connect with people who share personal interests and there place of origin and education at a particular school. E.g. – Facebook, Myspace, Bebo etc……
- How you use it – I use social networking sites to keep in touch with my friends. You can also use social networking sites to check up on what your friends are doing. You can view things like pictures and some background about them.
- Advantages – Some of the advantaged of using Social Networking sites it that it’s a fast way to get messages around to each other at one time, and it’s cheaper than using a mobile phone. You can see what some of your friends are doing or what there up to, like on Facebook where you can write down what’s on your mind.
- Disadvantages – Some of the disadvantages of using social networking sites is that people can find out personal things about yourself, and could find out where you live, Also some people might put false things about themselves on the site and pretend to be someone else. Some people use social networking sites to put offending things about other people on there accounts. Social networking could also be a place where people bully each other online.
