The role of the Department The sale Department is vital in an organisation. It generates the income that keeps the company running. For Varndean the sales department's job is to send out information to schools to let them know about the product that they produce, invite them to seminars to that they can come and see the product and basically take care of all the orders that come in. Advantages of ICT in their Job They are many advantages of using ICT in the sales department. It makes it easier for them to produce their adverts and it also makes it easier for them to type letters. Since hand writing le tters for them would take a long time. How they communicate with other Departments They are a small company so they don't to communicate officially between each other often. They use their computers to send and receive files that they have finished i.e. when a person has finished a document they will send it to another person, so they can print the document. How they communicate with external company's Externally they communicate with the publishers via email so that they can send a copy of the leaflet via an attachment. They communicate with customers via email and telephone. Improvements that could be made to their ICT use They could improve by making the database they have more detailed. So they could produce store detail of who has purchased their products, what they have purchased and when they have purchased it.
