The Warner Brothers logo basically summarises what the film is basically about, because of the way the logo is presented, the beginning of 300 is all a prologue until the second scene. At the beginning of'300' it is very gloomy and inexplicable; this creates a bizarre feeling while watching the film. The first thing you see within the film is a bunch of skulls. The introduction defines the setting, which is dark and gloomy. The voiceover is non-diegetic and is well accustomed to the particular scene, the voiceover is strong and fierce showing what is being said is to be listened to, also the sound effects in this scene shows that a storm is brewing. The scene then continues; A baby is shown being held up with the voiceover in the background talking about the baby, the camera shot of the baby is a close-up which fades to an extreme close-up of eyes which belongs to the man who beholds the child another fade is then produced showing a low angle shot of a man holding a baby with a masked man beside him on a cliff this is then replaced from a P.O.V./fair low angle shot from skulls on the floor. A quick fade is done and the sky is shown from a low angle, which beholds lightning. The lighting and soundtrack within the scene helps to enforce the gloomy setting. A slow fade is then brought from the sky to the capillaries of a building. A boy rises from the ground and at this point there is a mid-shot of his body, as from here there are quick transitions whereby a man and a boy are fighting (the voiceover still continues in the background describing the way of the Spartans). From the mid-shot it slowly goes into a close-up of the boys face as he tries to attack the man. The fight between the man and the boy is all in a mid-shot angle; a few close-ups are used to show the damage and emotion on the boys face. A quick fade is then produced with the boy touching soldiers shield, close-ups are used to show both the boy and the soldiers expression, a mid-shot of the boy and soldier is then produced, this is followed by another mid-shot of the mother of the boy being pulled back as she tries to defend her son. A close-up to mid-shot is followed showing the boy being taken away by two soldiers this scene contains low-key lighting to show the cruelty of what is happening (the dark side). The camera moves back to the mother which is a mid-shot and slowly zooms in to form a close-up of the mothers face as her son is being taken from her. The scene the fades into a 'battlefield' whereby two boys are fighting, P.O.V shots are used to show the winning boys fist pummelling into the face of the other boy. Low angle shots are used to show the power the winning boy withholds; this quickly moves to a high angle shot showing both boys. Slow motion has been used here to show the pain that the losing boy experienced and the blood that has been lost. A mid-shot is then produced of the winning boy rising which is followed by a close-up of his face to show how much has experienced. The scene quickly fades showing that the boy is older, in this scene the boy is being punished, this starts of as a mid-shot and slowly zooms in to form a close-up of the boy's face. It then fades to another scene, which has a low-key lighting to show the action that is about to take place. An establishing shot is shown which is followed by a mid-shot of the boy, which then goes into a mid-shot of a wolf; this is then followed by a long shot of the boy moving towards the wolf and a close-up of his face. Mid-point shots show the 'battle' between the boy and the wolf beginning; a long shot is shown from a cave, of the battle, which quickly goes back into a mid-point shot, this is followed by a close-up of the boys face. Mid-point shots and long shots are then produced as the boy walks into the cave, this is followed by a quick close-up of the wolfs face and back to the last shot The camera begins to jump from a close-up of the boys face to a close-up of the wolfs face this increases tension. A slow low angle shot is shown of the sky, which then fades back to the original shot and another slow fade is produced showing the face of the moon. Special effects portraying the wolf's shadow and slow motion are used to show the killing of the wolf.

The first five minutes of Meet The Spartans contain a prologue. Special effects are used on the title to show the action within. A mid-shot of skulls is first seen upon the screen, which quickly switches to a low-angle shot of a man on a cliff, holding a baby. High key lighting is used to show the importance of the baby. A voiceover begins at this point; the camera quickly moves to a close-up, which shows the unveiling of the 'baby', a close up of the man is shown to show his amazement this quickly fades back to ...
