Introduction
The purpose of this portfolio is to evaluate my personal and professional strengths and preferences. It also focus on reflection what I learn, how to work in team and personality. And then it will cover the knowledge of goal setting, learning style, professional role and career development.
Goal Setting
Goal setting is a useful process for people to plan and think about their future achievement and that can also motivate them to turn their prediction into reality ("Personal Goal Setting", 1995). A good goal should be achieve "SMART". SMART are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely (Becker, 2008). My short term goal is to achieve an average GPA 5.5 in International Business in 2 years. It matches the requirements of SMART. In order to achieve it, I must work hard to get a brilliant result in each unit. My long term goal is to work in an international company after I graduate from QUT. But it may not match the SMART because I just predict it; it is not realistic at this moment. However, paving the way to achieve it is to get a brilliant result for my degree and to gain more working experience in an international company for a summer part time job. What make me to be competitive is to study abroad for further master degree. Getting a fantastic result of study is the first step to be success in my career.
Learning Style
Learning styles are the various approaches that people aware and process in learning ("Learning Styles", 2007). According to Becker (2008), reflector is a person who is careful, thoughtful and good at listening to others. It quite matches my characteristic. I am quite careful to consider and analyze the information or other person's opinion in the group work. And what I work in the team is to encourage group members to exchange views among members in order to gather different ideas to tackle the tasks. Besides, I am willing to listen to other and try to solve the conflict under a thorough analysis. However, few members may think my reaction is too slow that may take a little bit more time to give them a decision. So the area I need to improve is to react efficiently with limited time and not trend to worry too much.
