In this analysis I will be analyzing the motion picture “Romeo and Juliet” By William Shakespeare starring Leonardo Dicaprio and Claire Danes.  In this analysis I will be discussing things such as camera shots, Editing, Lighting, what you can hear and also what you can see.

In the film the dialogue is very clear wit all of the actors and actresses speaking directly into the camera. The dialogue that the actors use is one of a 19th century household using a lot of old slang.  The sound effects are loud enough to be noticed and heard but not so loud that you cannot hear the actors speaking.  The music goes really well with the film because it is also the stereotypical music from the 19th century.  The music is also more opera type of music than anything and usually quite soft whilst the actors are talking, but it really kicks in when the actors stop speaking and most of the action starts, the only time the music stays quite loud is when the action starts and the actors shout the odd few words.  The music consists of mostly percussion instruments which you would hear at an opera.

Also in the movie the shots usually last around 10 seconds but then it skips to another shot.  The camera uses a lot of good angles and it makes the actors either look really dramatic or really powerful.  The cameras also tend to move around a lot in the shots but not just side to side they also move up and down.  Most of the shots are moving the only still shots are the ones in which the camera is capturing Romeo and Juliets emotions.
