I will be analyzing the motion picture "Romeo and Juliet" By William Shakespeare starring Leonardo Dicaprio and Claire Danes.

Also in the movie the shots usually last around 10 seconds but then it skips to another shot.  The camera uses a lot of good angles and it makes the actors either look really dramatic or really powerful.  The cameras also tend to move around a lot in the shots but not just side to side they also move up and down.  Most of the shots are moving the only still shots are the ones in which the camera is capturing Romeo and Juliets emotions. The cameras do a lot of zooming in and out to capture people in the shot.

The lighting in the film goes really well with the scenery.  Most of the shots outside are at day time so they use a lot of natural lighting.  In the odd couple of shots that are outside at night time use some artificial lighting but this is only to highlight the actors unless its background lighting which goes with the scenery. Some artificial lighting is also used in some of the shots where the actors are inside, most of these shots happen at night though so lighting is needed.  Shadows are in every shot and are all facing the same way unless inside under artificial lighting.

The main actors in the film are Romeo, Juliet, Percusio and the two families’ gangs.  The costumes used on Romeo and Juliet are of a modern fashion but crossed with old clothes with frills and accessories. But the rest of the actors clothes are modern tropical clothes which would be expected to be seen in Verona beach our days.  The props in the film such as inside the houses are all classical props which you would expect to see in a castle but outside on the movie is real Verona beach.  The props which are used are all really well crafted and you would believe that it was the actual inside of the mansions.  The special effects used are really good when used but not used that often, so to add more uniqueness to them.  The best special effects through the film are the injuries which the characters get when shot or injured such as the cut which Percusio gets when he is killed by Tibalt.

Through the film there are a lot of different shots all really well thought out.  The shots do not tend to fade much unless changing scenes but when just changing shots they tend to dissolve.  When the shots do occasionally fade the fade does not last long so is hard to notice unless watched for.  In all I think this is a really good film with a very good story-line but it could be improved on by adding more action and more modern day dialogue.
