As for the way of English thinking, most of them prefer to think twice before they do something. So, they may reduce the level of mistake they make. It may feel quite strange for Korean people because many Korean people are always doing something in a hurry. Also, students in England normally prefer to play sports with friends in their free time rather than spending their extra time on the Internet.
In the past, the national mission statement in Korea was “Learning by doing” and people believed that following statement could be the best way to develop their country in a short time. This means that they had lack of time to enjoy themselves in the past. However, as time goes by and they become richer and richer, they have more time to enjoy themselves. Therefore, not many Korean may remember the mission statement, especially for the young generation. As for the Korean language usages, there are some very different styles from English. The majority of Koreans prefer to use respectable language for the elderly people, even in work places. For example, Korean students use specific and formal language for their teachers. Moreover, Koreans normally bow each other with respectable language. This kind of cultural behaviour makes Korean people be, in general, modest, kind and polite to each other.
English people normally enjoy having potatoes, pasta, breads and pizza at the meal time. They are quite oily so they, mostly, take the meal with salad, especially for the dinner time. They normally prefer to use forks and knives rather than using chopsticks. Additionally, they like to have barbeque parties quite often, at the weekend.
As for the food culture in Korea, Koreans normally enjoy spicy, salty and hot tasting food. According to the media sites, some western people blame Korean people about eating dog meat. However, I trust that the negative food culture has changed with time. Korean people also like eating a specific kind of salted vegetable, which is very spicy, hot and has a particular smell, called Kimchi. This may be very strange and upsetting for English people. Furthermore, Koreans normally have rice at each mealtime and this may be also strange for English, but it is really essential part of Korean food culture.
The majority of English people prefer to spend their own time by themselves and do not want their life to be touched by other people. This may be seen quite selfish to a lot of foreigners, who have different traditional culture and the way of thinking. However, we can also find its positive points, for example, people will be able to keep their privacy more safely and the number of conflict between neighbourhoods is much lower than other countries. So the above factors can make their living environment much quieter. We can see their living style very easily by the houses in England, which are, mostly, detached or semi detached. This fact might be derived from the ratio between population and territory, because the territory of England is pretty large, compared with the 50million of the population. So that houses are quite spread out and are mostly, low even flats. Furthermore, weather in England is very windy, rainy and unstable, but not too hot and cold. So, most of English households have not needed air conditioning until now. However, the weather in summer is, nowadays, becoming hotter and hotter because of global warming. So it can be anticipated that sooner or later, the sales of air conditioners might soar.
In comparison, all Korean people really like playing and doing something with a teamwork basis. For example, they take for a walk with friends, watch movies together, even study in a group. In Korea, neighbours help each other and it may be a common behaviour in the Korean society. But, it can be sometimes annoying to English people due to different living style. Due to geographical condition, Korean people try to build their living properties in height; therefore, they live mostly in blocks of flats. Their flats are actually fairly big and we could call them for apartments. Also, the material they use for their interiors are different: Koreans do not use carpets on the floors and so much wood. Outside their windows they use wooden shutters to protect from light and at night time. They also use nets against mosquitoes. In summer, Korea is extremely hot so air conditioning is essential for every house in Korea. Moreover, their heating structure is not based on radiators but it runs with floor-heating system. This is why the floor can be used to put their beds on if they want to.
Both countries have distinctive cultural differences but must be respected under the moral concept. This means that we cannot say which one is good or less.
