What Impact did Bletchley Park have upon the war?

Bletchley Park could have had a bigger impact on the war than it did have. This was because initially the information that was supplied from Bletchley Park was ignored by the armed forces. Each of these armed forces had there own intelligence network and preferred to rely on them, also, because Bletchley Park was top secret and nobody knew where the information came from it caused much distrust. Another reason the generals and admirals did not like following the advice of Bletchley Park was that all the workers were civilians.

The first piece of important information from Bletchley Park that was ignored was at the beginning of April 1940. Many messages were being received from the Baltic area this meant that there was probably going to be naval activity, shortly afterwards Germany invaded Norway. Then two months later, they ignored another piece of important information, which caused the loss of an aircraft carrier and her two escorts.

During the battle of Britain and the battle of France Bletchley Park didn’t play a very big role but they did have a lot of messages to practise breaking and were able to find out the exact numbers of Germans planes that had been shot down.

During 1941 Bletchley Park, succeed in breaking the German navel code, this informed the British fleet of the positions of the enemy fleet and the British fleet were able to sink three heavy cruisers and two destroyers with no British loses, Bletchley Park also helped in the invasion of Crete.
