(Class notes) 'The personality of an offender can then is found by looking at their behaviour before, during and after the offence.' (Class notes) 'These factors will then be added to the other information and physical evidence and compared with characteristics of different personality types so that a profile can be found.' (Class notes) The primary goals of criminal profiling include the reduction of the viable suspect pool in a criminal investigation, assistance in the linkage of potentially related crimes, assessment of the potential for escalation of criminal behaviour, provision of relevant leads and strategies, and keeping the investigation on track. The criminal profiler is not preoccupied with specifically naming the offender. Criminal profilers are advisors; detectives and investigators solve cases. There are two main systems of looking at offender profiling: The American Approach and The British Approach which is also known as Investigative Psychology, there is also the Geographical approach to offender profiling which looks at thing such as there area the crime is committed and the area the possible offender my be

Compare the styles and effectiveness of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King

How are ethnic minorities represented in the film "Crash"? "Crash" is a powerful and moving drama which forces the audience to search their conscience and cognitive prejudices on the issue of ethnicity. Based within the multi-cultural society of Los Angeles, "Crash" portrays a stereotypically accurate view of how people of different culture, race or ethnicity react to each other when they are forced by fate to cross paths. The film's tag-lines depicts its influential hypothesis: "Moving at the speed of life, we are bound to collide with each other", and "We miss that touch so much that we crash into each other just to feel something." I will evaluate how the most important 'crashes' in the film are manipulated to challenge whether everyone has an innate racial prejudice inside themselves, and how everyone has been, and will continue to be susceptible to mass media institution's cognitive pressures. "Crash" conjures many ethnicity issues, and in particular, the idea of how different ethnic groups adhere to their perceived oppression or prejudice. Because of this I will be linking my answer with Antonio Gramsci's adaption of the Marxist theory of hegemony; this covers the way in which in the film, I believe, represents some ethnic groups as conformist to their 'oppressors' to justify their prejudices and ways of life to others. Also I will be using the controversial ideas

Planning, Design and Production Phases of the Construction Industry

Unit 1 Design Principles and Application Task 1 Planning, Design and Production Phases P1a Planning Process and Design Process of Civil Engineering and Building Construction Design process for Building Construction (Refer to Appendix 01) Process of any project is mapped out in stages; firstly a very generic outline of the project and how the future of the work will evolve is prepared by the client. Once the client knows what they want they can then employ an architect. The architect must then decide if the client's idea is feasible - the cost, scale, and purpose of the building must be scrutinised. By now a team should now be involved with running the project including, a quantity surveyor(s), engineers, and any specialists that might be needed. Once the design has been drafted, re-drafted and the exact idea has been finalised, the local authorities can be informed of the work and any other approving authorities can agree the work. The Quantity Surveyor can now produce an information pack outlining the fees, costs and arrangements for tendering a contractor; these are known as a Bill of Quantities. Once a contractor has been found planning can begin on the arrangements to be made to start work on site. Once complete the work can start with the contractors and any sub-contractors they may have employed following the plan set out and the design that has been agreed. When

NEWS | POLITICS | OPINIONS | BUSINESS | LOCAL | SPORTS | ARTS & LIVING | GOING OUT GUIDE | JOBS | CARS | REAL ESTATE |SHOPPING Article 1: Maryland man killed fleeing crash scene in police car By Martin Weil Tuesday, February 2, 2010; C03 A Prince George's County man who was injured in one car wreck early Saturday was killed shortly afterward in a second, when he crashed the police car that he took at the scene of the first, county police said. The unlikely series of events began about 2:30 a.m., when a 2006 Dodge Charger crashed near Croom and Baden Naylor roads, in the southeastern part of the county, police said. How the crash occurred was not clear, but no other vehicle was involved, police said. Officers came upon the crash scene and located the driver, who had left the vehicle but was nearby, said Officer Henry Tippett, a police spokesman. Police identified the man as Kenneth R. Taylor, 28, of the 15400 block of Mount Calvert Road. Events unfolded rapidly, Tippett said. Officers spoke with Taylor briefly and then went to the crashed vehicle to see whether anybody else was inside. While they were checking it, Tippett said, Taylor, who they thought was the driver of the wrecked car, jumped into one of the officers' cruisers. He headed north for a mile or so, Tippett said, before the cruiser left Croom road near Mattaponi Road, where Croom bends sharply.
