Introduction

The book “of mice and men” is based in the 1930’s during the time of the “great depression” Best friends Lennie and George find themselves unemployed and unable to maintain a stable working pattern for long because of Lennie's childlike acts. When they're hired at the Tyler Ranch, they thrive on the work despite the strict supervision of Curley, the boss’s son. But their world is ripped apart when Curley's unhappy wife becomes the innocent victim of Lennie's compassion, forcing George to make a compassionate decision of his own.

Intent

Within this Intent question I’m going to talk about dreams and how they become a big factor in people’s lives. Dreams can be very important and essential in many various ways for numerous people. To a number of people dreams keep them motivated, it can sometimes give them the willpower to survive, as it gives them something to plan and fight for. Say you have a dream of becoming a professional footballer, this “dream will help you succeed in doing this, it would keep you motivated and help you graph ahead, this is why whatever your dream is, it is important to hope on to it for dear life. I’m also going to be discussing the lives of four individuals in “of mice and men” and how dreams became a monumental factor in some of their lives.

In “Of mice and men” dreams becomes a substantial factor in the lives of Lennie and George, through out the story we are frequently reminded about their own personal dream of Lennie’s and George. This dream was a of a perfect life, it would also give them enough strength of mind and determination to keep them on trying through the hard times, I feel as if it wasn’t for this dream I feel they would have given up already, and possibly their lives sacrificed.

Character One – Lennie

Lennie’s dream became a large part of the story, he would often ask George to remind him of this “Tell about that place, George’ I just told you, just las’ night, Go on – tell again George.” He would often talk about this dream of “liv, of the fatta the lan” with his childlike mind he dreams were simple and what was to live in a big old house with rabbits and other animals
