Vern, who is an overweighted boy, always is in the mood for food. He doesn’t worry about anything. He just gets on the task he’s suppose to do. He sometimes can be annoying to other peoples problems. But loves to play jokes on other people.
Chris and Gordie are best friends and stick by each other through everything. They are always there for each other, and need each other's comfort to rely on. Both boys are rejected from their father, and from society in a way. Chris suffers from physical abuse, and Gordie suffers from mental abuse. Gordie’s life was going perfectly until his brother Denny had to die. After this, Gordie finds that he needs Chris more than ever.
Christ acts really tough and rough on the outside, but inside, he really needs Gordie too.
They are the sort of friends who would always stick together, and help one another to get by. They all hold close friendship. The only way they can help each other is to be tough. Being soft doesn’t make anything good happen. You gotta be tough and rough so that they can learn from each other. This is the way you have to be on these boys for them to learn something good. They learn that working together is team work and friendship will always be there, and will never end.
The bridge scene is where Teddy felt confident (Walking off by himself). When the boys get to the bridge, they felt scared of crossing the bridge because of what can happen. What if a train comes heading towards them? What will they do?
It would take hours for them to cross to the other end. It will take miles!
So the boys set off, walking along the rail tracks… not long, Vern dropped his comb beneath the tracks whilst he was combing his hair. He bent down to try and get it, but he realised that it fell right down to the ground.
Meanwhile, the boys were walking down the tracks (Not even halfway yet) and suddenly Gordie felt a strong vibration. He bent down and put his hand on the rail track… Gordie shouted ‘TRAIN!’ and the boys looked back and sprinted down as fast as they could.
Vern fell down onto the floor, and Chris ran back to help him up. You can see by the close up that Chris was very worried that the train will hit him. Gordie and Teddy shouted ‘Hurry up!’, Chris and Vern got up and started to run, Gordie and Teddy was cheering Vern like it was a game! Then when they got to them, they all decided to jump off to the ground because they knew they wouldn’t make it.
The film is excellent. But there is strong language in this film which doesn’t make it good. (Too much swearing). The drama, action is terrific! Also leading to quality. Because of the strong language used in this film, the movie had been given a 15 certificate to give an official warning to the people below 15.
I have learnt that films which are made needs good acting. It doesn’t matter what the movie is about, all it matters is where it starts, and where it ends. In this movie I have realised that the camera angles are medium shots. The camera directs us to where the action is happening everything. My favourite scene is where they run as fast as they could to get away from the train. But at the end, no matter what kind of arguments they get into, they always are friends!
