The role of Tybalt

The role that tybalt play in Shaspears play Romeo and juliet is that from the begining when we first witness Tybalt in act1 scene 1.Tybalt is potraed as a very aggresive, cocky and arrogant that is just looking for a fight. This is in contrast to his rival charecter in 'Benvolio' who is of simular stauts compared to Tybalt. Benvolio's charecter is a 'peace keeper'.

Tybalt charecter is presented as confident, fierce but also bad tempered this is done through his word rather than his phycical action such as when he says,

"Turn thee, benvolio, look upon thy death",

and also,

"What, drawn, and talk of peace! I hate the word, As I hate hell, all montagues, and thee: have at thee, coward!

Tybalt uses metaphors such 'I hate hell, all montagues' the use of hell emphasis his hate and emphasises Tybalt's persona to us as the viewer as the fiery and aggresive charecter.

'the fiery Tybalt, with his sword prepared, which, as he breathed defiance to my ears',

Benvolio emphasis's the fact that Tybalt is bad empered and aslo that he is dangerous.

But in act 1 scene 2, when Romeo decides to 'gatecrash' the capulets party Tybalt is truely not amused by this. But the fact that the lord and lady Capulet don't react to Romeo's precence at the party showed that it wasn't as big ...
