The Bible is the Christian holy book, which comes from the Greek word ‘Biblia’ which means the books. The Great Bible was the first approved English translation in 1539. There are two parts to the bible known as the New Testament and the Old Testament; the word testament means special agreements because both Jews and Christians believe God has made a special agreement with humankind (covenant).

The New Testament has 27 books, four of which are the Gospels. Christianity is a historical religion, which bears witness to what God has done. The Epistles were written by early Christian leaders to give advice, guidance and encouragement. Christians use them to understand the beliefs and factors affecting the development of the early church.
