Work Experience Essay

Work Experience Essay It all began when my tutor informed us that we have to find our work placements for the two weeks of work experience. When we were first told about work experience I thought to my self 'great no school for two weeks.' I was looking forward to looking around places and trying to figure out what and where I wanted to do my work experience. I personally enjoy things associated with Sports and helping people so I wanted to do something along these lines. I started looking around areas of work I could look into, and then phoned up some of these places to see if they did work experience in advance. I found that many of the places I wanted to do work experience at did have vacancies during the June/July time. I was glad when I found this out, as I would be doing something, I enjoyed for two weeks, and not something I was told to do because I had to. I spoke to the head of work experience at various places and they said I would be able to do it there and all I needed to do was get the forms to them so they could fill them in and my placement would be sorted. The first placement I found was at Lords' Cricket Ground and as I love cricket I was well up for doing work experience there. I had called them on many occasions and they kept saying they would get back to me and would let me know if I was able to do it there. It was now February and they had not yet got

A chapter form my autobiography dealing with the two weeks of my work experience.

A chapter form my autobiography dealing with the two weeks of my work experience Work experience is important because it gives you insight into life of the 'outside' world. It gives the opportunity of working in a line that can be chosen as a career for future, giving the idea of the qualifications and steps needed to chase for the career you want to adopt. The pleasant news of doing a work experience in year eleven was revealed to me in early spring in 2003. It didn't really come as a shock to me because my brother had also done a work experience in year eleven and seemed to have enjoyed it and 'had a time of his life'. In that sense I was eager about work experience and couldn't wait to plan it. Many people I knew panicked when they heard about doing a work experience. They didn't have a clue what they wanted to do in future. I, on the other hand, had no problem with that. I had decided when I was seven that I wanted to be a doctor who treats children. It was only recently I found out that this type of a doctor is called a paediatrician. My next step was to hunt some suitable place which was appropriate for the career line I had chosen. I started off by phoning in hospitals. But I couldn't get hold of the right person so I tried a different route by writing letters but a huge disappointment came over me when I didn't hear anything from the hospitals. I went to see the

Discuss the importance of children making choices in their play.

Unit 8 A* - Discuss the importance of children making choices in their play. Issues that could be considered might be that the children are young and can’t make up their mind enough, even though it’s good to let children make choices the adults are to support the child helping and reassuring the child. Some children are more confident playing in a set activity; any child who is not as confident has to be helped and giving motivation to help their development. “Children like to feel the same as others; living with a medical condition may make a child feel different” Tassoni p, (2007) childcare and education 3rd edition page 60. When giving children the opportunities to make choices you make them feel in control and help to build up their self-esteem, children need to make choices to develop their understanding of the world and know how to handle their self, not encouraging them to make choices might lead them to misbehave or rebel. Choices enhance their imagination; play can consist of amusing or imaginative activity for independent play or with others. The rites of play are evident throughout nature; it helps in their social development. In a classroom it’s important for the children to choose what activities they would like to do, according to Piaget’s constructivist principles if they can make their own decision they will be self-motivated

Work Experience Coursework

Work Experience Coursework By Reshma Bhudia 10.5FD Work is an important part of everyone's life. The type of work we get depends on how much effort we put into our school education. Everyone works extremely hard now so that they can have a happy and secure future. Students put a lot of effort into their school work throughout their lives, however, in Year Ten; it was time to finally see if we can manage life outside of school, with other people, different tasks, and without the help of teachers. The Work Experience from seventeenth of May to the twenty-eighth of May would help us to be more independent and responsible. During Christmas period, we had many talks on Work Experience which we all had to go on to find out what it is like in the real world. After having a pastoral lesson on Work Experience with Valerie, from Brent & Harrow Work Experience Consortium, we were given forms to fill in about what kind of work we would like to do for our Work Experience. It took a lot of time, but everyone had finally managed to fill in the form, including detail about where they would like to work, how far they would like to travel, and much more. I had made my choices very carefully; as I had thought about what I wanted to do from the start of Year Ten. As my first choice, I put down Medical Administration. As my second choice I put down Nursery, and my third choice was to work with

Write a Report on Work Experience for Next Year's Year 10.

Write a Report on Work Experience for Next Year's Year 10 Year 10 students are set out to go on a 2-week work experience. The idea of work experience is that it is to show students/teenagers how work really is. During the course of the 2 weeks, the students should be able to build up new skills and develop ones they already have. The sort of work experience I wanted to do was something to with computers, or some other type of electronic products. I wanted to do something like this mainly out of interest. I wanted to do computer work because I do GNVQ ICT; due to this I thought working with computers would develop my skills even further. I also hoped that with this work experience I would be able to get better communication skills and with this, meet new people. I hoped that if I got the job, I would find out how the computer or electronic industry works and I would find out whether or not I like that sort job. I would have also liked to find out what types of skills, qualifications and responsibilities you need for that type of job. I wanted to find out all these things because I am interested in that as a further career, although I do have some other alternatives. The placement that I got was nothing like the one I wanted. This is because project trident could not find me a placement. So I had to get a self-placement. The only place that was not all booked up, or not

Citizenship - Account of activity during work experience

ACCOUNT OF ACTIVITY Knowledge and understanding of roles and events My Citizenship coursework will be based on the rights and responsibilities of employees and their employers in the workplace. The aim of the coursework is to produce a report explaining the health and safety rules on my work experience placement. This is a citizenship activity because it looks closely at important rights. It will also look at my roles, and those of others, during the activity. I have chosen my work experience place because this will give me the opportunity to get an experience and will make me or introduce me to the world and get vital points on how to develop my life skills towards working. The placement that I have been given is not close to my house but I am willing to work hard and grab this opportunity. I am also interested in the financial market and promoting of products and I'll learn from this. I went for my work experience to Comet Stores. My work experience was for a two week period staring on the 6th of June 2005 and ending on the 16th of June 2005. The area that I was allocated for the work experience was in Fosse Park, which is near the outer ring of the city near to the motorways. Comet Stores is a well-known brand, which sells household electronic devices. The placement that I was in was the biggest store in the city. The complex comprised of two floors namely the sales

Work Experience Essay When we were first told about work experience I thought to my self 'great no school for two weeks.' I was looking forward to looking around places and trying to figure out what and where I wanted to do my work experience. I've always been good at doing things with beauty and nails and therefore I was hoping to find somewhere I could experience more about that. I started looking around in November and found many places where I would like to spend my two weeks of work experience. Most of the places I looked at involved sweeping floors and cleaning floors and sweeping floors and cleaning and more cleaning, this was not how I wanted to spend two weeks of 'no school' so I decided to look at other places like boots and cloth stores. I asked around at many different department stores and many of them said yes and told me to bring in more information and I told them that I would be back in the next two weeks with the forms that needed filling in. Two weeks went by and I forgot to go back and then I just got lazy and couldn't be bothered to go. I kept telling my self that I had plenty of time left and that I would find a placement closer to the time. It was now June and it was becoming clear to me that I had to find a placement in the next few days as Mrs. O'Connor was having a go at me and other students about not having a placement and even my tutor Mr.

My Penalty… For Missing the Penalty.

MY PENALTY... FOR MISSING THE PENALTY I T's good to be me. Being part of the biggest football club in the world, Manchester United, earning fifty thousand pounds a week, having good friends and star footballers around me, having scored a massive forty eight goals last season and thirty six the year before and working under the best manager in the world, Alex Ferguson, I couldn't ask for more. All was well until one day.... the day I missed. The season had kicked off well. Wins in our first three games put us on top of the table. The young prodigy, Cristiano Ronaldo, who had been signed by Ferguson for twelve million really sparked the United midfield after the departure of David Beckham and Juan S Veron. Critics accused Fergie (Ferguson) of his reckless spending on an eighteen year old. But his thirty-minute cameo in the first game exposed his devilish delivery from out wide, when his cross was met by my team-mate, Paul Scholes' head and found the ball in the back of the net. We won that match a comfortable four to zero and our morales were high. At the end of the match, the usual echo of the crowd chanting the Manchester United song brought memories back of last season. I thought that this season would be as glorious, little did I know what was in store for me. Our next match was against archrivals Newcastle United. The personnel may change, but Manchester United's

Design Brief In this project I will design an apparatus which will hold a test-tube, basically as a showpiece. Even though test tubes are usually used to hold variables in science, I will be using it as a flower holder. My new boss at the company has asked me to make a flower vase, and has decided that the newest item in the store will be a test-tube flower vase. He has asked me that it has to be commercially viable, which will totally depend on my target audience. My main target audience in this project is the general female adult, because it would be the best area to sell a flower vase. This is because showpieces in stores are mostly bought by the female adult who wants to make a place look good by its presence. I'm choosing this audience because they are the ones that most commonly use vases, and it is the place where I can make the most money. In order to do this, I will go through a whole process which is in this project. I will start of with researching existing examples, researching materials and I will go on to survey a group of people and I will go on to use the results in order to plan my design. I will go on to create my design and then I will evaluate my whole project. Overall, I will follow the design cycle in this project to create my flower vase. The tools and materials that I will use will all come from the DT lab. Materials Research In this project there

The Police were to blame for not capturing Jack the Ripper, use the sources and your own knowledge. Many people believe that the police were to blame for not capturing Jack the Ripper, but there are many reasons to believe they are not. Firstly the area in which the murders took place was Whitechapel and there are many factors of Whitechapel that could lead us to suggest that the police were not to blame for not capturing Jack. One of these factors is Whitechapel geographical structure, we know from previous knowledge that Whitechapel consisted of many alleyways and back routes. Source E supports this in stating 'are connected by a network of narrow, dark and crooked lanes; when referring to Whitechapel's assembly. Source E, which is part of an article, originated from after the second murder committed by jack and this infers that it would be reasonably accurate in its descriptions of Whitechapel. Another source that supports my previous knowledge is source I, a map that presents these narrow passage ways to us that venture far from the main road. If there are many dark passages for Jack to slip into, this makes it much harder for the police to catch him in the act as Jack could use complicated routes to get as far from the crime scene as possible and if these passage ways are dark he could've hid in dark corners without being saw by the Police. This is most definitely not
