How does The ‘Lobby’ scene from the Matrix create meaning and generate response using Micro Aspects.

The Matrix (1996) written and directed by the Wachowski brothers, who have made many films including ‘Bound’. The Matrix has many stars in it including Keanu Reeves as ‘Neo’, Carrie Anne Moss as ‘Trinity’ and Laurence Fishburne as ‘Morpheous’. The genre of this film is hard to describe because it takes elements from a few genres i.e. action, thrillers sci-fi. Critics have described it as an action cyber thriller which is closely related to films like ‘Blade Runner’ starring Harrison Ford. The story line is very complex but condensed it is this.

                          Perception: The everyday is real

Reality: The world is a hoax an elaborate deception

Spun by all powerful machines of artificial

                                        Intelligence that control all.

We follow Neo a normal person living his life he has an office job nothing special really happens. In his spare time he is a hacker selling programs to whoever wants them. He has always wondered is there something else, he finds out there is when he meets Morpheous who tells him the truth he is living in a computer program. Neo is woken up upon which he is picked up by Morpheous ship and starts his incredible journey. In the end he realises his true ability and how he can manipulate the matrix, the computer program to how he sees fit. I particularly love this film the whole story is intriguing it really makes you think and most people would agree with this. The special effects are groundbreaking and took the whole film industry forward. I am concentrating on the ‘lobby’ scene where Neo is finally realising his full potential how he can do anything he wants.

The ‘lobby’ scene is where the audience is realising the true meaning behind the film, the true meaning behind Neo. He is fighting for mankind fighting for his friends and at this point his father figure Morpheous. The audience realise he is scared, which means they can relate to him it shows he is only human. The opening shot shows a low angled shot of Neo entering an office block you can tell this by the marble interior, which we would relate to an extravagant building perhaps as I said an office building. It only shows him from the thigh ...
