Case study estonia

Global Outdoor Leisure Industry Individual country Analysis Estonia For this report I am investigating Estonia I am going to look at whether the country is suitable from a UK perspective to host a watersports centre. To research this I first need to find out what the UK consumer wants. For this I need to research existing watersports centres. I am going to look at Sunsail centres and whether it is viable to set up another Sunsail club in Estonia. Sunsail is a UK based company owned by First Choice. "First Choice originated in 1973 as Owners Abroad plc, the company restructured and rebranded as First Choice Holidays in 1994 and is now the third largest in the UK and it currently operates in 13 countries worldwide. Over the last few years First Choice has made a number of structural changes, strengthened by a new corporate brand identity. In 2004, the travel group restructured its business, creating four specific divisions: Mainstream Holidays, Specialist Holidays, Activity Holidays and Online Destination Services. It is the only one of the big four travel groups to incorporate an activity division." (www.firstchoice.co.uk/history, accessed on 30/1/07) Sunsail UK headquarters are based in Port Solent, Portsmouth. The company are the largest provider of yacht charter and watersports sailing holidays worldwide with centres in 39 locations throughout the world. Sunsail

'The Nurse, Capulet and Friar Lawrence all love Juliet, yet all contribute towards her death.' Show how far this is true by referring closely to words and incidents in the play. William Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet' is one of the greatest love stories of all time. The play was written around 1595, but the story has proven to be timeless. The play is a story of forbidden love that is resolved in two tragic deaths. Romeo and Juliet come from feuding families, but they defy the feud and fall in love. Here, I am going to focus on the death of Juliet, and try to determine the cause of her death, specifically focusing on the role of Capulet, Friar Lawrence and the Nurse in her death. They all have a close relationship with Juliet; be it father, father-figure or mother-figure, so try to give her advice, in the hope to guide her in the right direction. In Shakespearean times, women were believed to be inferior to men; they were totally dominated by the male members of their family. They were expected to instantly obey not only their father but also their brothers and any other male members of the family. With this we can try to relate to how Juliet feels dutiful to accept the advice offered to her. The Nurse appears to be a comic figure given to bawdy humour and innuendo, which can be seen in her first speech where she says, "Now by my maidenhead at twelve years old / me bade

In April of this year the Home Secretary of that time, Charles Clarke, announced plans for a "violent offenders' register" and a "violent offenders' order". Examine the arguments for and against these measures. In this essay, I aim to explore and critically examine both the negative and positive elements of this proposed violent offenders' order and register. I will start by introducing the existing violent and sex offender register that this proposal could be based on. I will go on to discuss who might identify the people targeted by this new order, and how. I will explore the social theory of the fear of crime, postmodern culture, definitions of risk and victimology. I will then critically evaluate the arguments for and against Charles Clarke's proposal. Charles Clarke reported to the media that this violent offenders' register could follow the format of the existing violent and sex offender register (Guardian Staff & Agencies, 20th April 2006). The violent and sex offender register (ViSOR) was implemented under the Sexual Offences Act 2003. This Act revised the previous requirements set out under the Sex Offenders Act 1997. By law, the following categories of individuals must register their details with the police: those convicted under the 2003 Sexual Offences Act, anyone who has served a custodial sentence of more than 12 months for a violent offence, and

Critically evaluate the extent to which transformational approaches are relevant to leadership roles in the Royal Air Force.

Leadership and Management Critically evaluate the extent to which transformational approaches are relevant to leadership roles in the Royal Air Force. This quote from Bennis (cited in Hooper & Potter 2000) goes to the heart of the current debate about Leadership and explains, in part, why so many people are discovering that it is difficult to be an effective leader. There are numerous leadership models espoused by various individuals and organisations, from politicians to academics, multi-national conglomerates to military organisations. They have various threads that inter-weave and draw from each other, quite often overlapping, all have there limitations and criticisms. The 'Transformational Leadership Model' is just one of them, which developed over a period, within a cohesive environment, not in isolation. Therefore, as will be identified throughout this essay there are strands of transformational leadership in numerous leadership models. Initially, transformational leadership will be defined and then compared against Bass' 'Full Range Leadership Model', this will then be followed by an introduction into military leadership before analysing the Royal Air Force's current leadership attributes against the tenets of transformational leadership. Indeed, whilst the RAF's leadership attributes are fairly recent in their publication, 2007, we will ask ourselves whether

Background Hillary Diane Rodham was born on October 26, 1947 in Illinois, Chicago. Her father, Hugh Ellsworth Rodham, operated a small but successful business in the textile industry while her mother, Dorothy Emma Howell was a homemaker. Politically, she was inspired strongly by her high school history teacher, who got her to read a book called "The Conscience of a Conservative" and who was, like her father, a fervent anti-communist. She was also influenced by her Methodist youth minister and her mother who were concerned with issues of social justice. In 1965 she enrolled in Wellesley College and majored in science. She was president of the Wellesley Young Republicans organization during her freshman year and supported the elections of republicans John Lindsay and Edward Brooke at that time. However she eventually changed her point of view, due to the American Civil Rights Movement and the Vietnam War, and stepped down from that position. She actively sought to work for change within the campus

outdoor leisure industry

Outdoor Leisure Industry Adrian Durrant 'Leisure has been identified with elitism and class privilege since the earliest civilizations. However, leisure probably began with primitive cultures once the pressures for sustenance, security and basic needs were removed or in celebration after the hunt or during inclement weather. In simpler society's, the line between work and leisure is not indelibly drawn. In times past, and even in many parts of the world today, there are people who work so hard and long to sustain themselves and their families that their lives are devoid of what we might term 'leisure'. Peasant life often means working to survive, and playing when opportunity permits. In simple social systems leisure is part of the rhythms of life: night and day, the climate, the seasons, the harvest.' (Torkildsen 2005) This was an early view of how leisure was seen, over the years leisure has changed and gradually changed and formed with society into what we see it as today. 'In the 1960's we witness the start of leisure and recreation management as we know it today in the United Kingdom. An explosion of leisure facilities began with the birth of the community multi-sport centre at Harlow. National centres also followed, the opening of the crystal palace national sports centre, and then came community arts and recreation centres. The creative arts music, fashion,

Explore notions of the gaze in at least two texts.

Explore notions of 'the gaze' in at least two texts. In order to explore the idea of 'the gaze' there is first a need to define it. Is the nature of the gaze colonising or de-colonising? It would appear, at least in reference to the works of Edward Brathwaite and Mahasweta Devi, that it is both. In the search to decolonise oneself, one is ultimately still colonised due to the extent of colonisation. It affects the texts on the base level of how they are written, what language, what format is used. Postcolonial writers are forced to 'Adopt, Adapt and Adept'1 previously Western forms of writing such as the novel for their own use. Colonisation took hold of a country's identity; from its Government and legal status to language and culture. In this instance then, 'the gaze' is that of the Coloniser or outsider. To see this idea more clearly, the famed words of Emerson are applicable: 'I become a transparent eye-ball. I am nothing. I see all. The currents of the Universal Being circulate through me; I am part or particle of God'2 With the eyeball, one is able to view from the outside looking in. This image is effective in numerous ways. Firstly, it shows mankind's ability to commune with nature on a spiritual level, so immersed can one become in nature that one is merely a part of that process. Secondly, it demonstrates that 'the gaze' is similar to the
