Data Requirements
Page 1- This page will be called the members page this will include the customers name, age, gender, address. This will be used to keep a record of all the people attending the Fitness Centre. This data will be collected from the user.
Page 2- This page will be called the categories page. This page will include all the categories.
Page 3- This page is called the calculator page. This page is used to calculate the persons actual BMI.
Data validation- This will be created to help the user so no mistakes are made.
Output of the system
Data will be displayed on a computer monitor and should be viewable. These could be viewed by the employees. Data will be printed of using a printer. Important information could be printed off. The reason why I chose a printer as the best from of output is because it is the most beneficial and simple to use.
Alternative output methods are:
E-mail- advantages of e-mail
- Simple to send.
- Fast
- Logos can be sent with the letter.
- Attachments can be made.
- It’s cheap.
- Can be sent to someone anywhere.
- Many people have an E-mail address.
Fax
- Can be sent to an E-mail address.
- Many can be made.
- Can be sent to anyone anywhere.
- Professional
Data flow diagram
The user enters the customer’s details on the member’s page.
The employee then need to work out the BMI of the customer they are dealing with. So they types in the calculation of weight time’s height and the BMI is calculated and then given to the customer.
Once this has been done the information will be seen on the monitor so can then be printed out if needed.
Backup of the system
Backup
Backup can be used in case any information is misplaced or lost. Losing data can be a serious consequence if you don’t have any back up, and can take a very long time to get all information back. The way I will create back up will be by saving the Spreadsheet on a USB and the BMI centres computer. A USB is best for saving data as it has the least disadvantages. Below are the reasons of why I did not choose the following.
CD- Disadvantages
- Once CD rom is created information cannot be changed.
- Slow upgrade
- Limited access
Disk- Disadvantages
- too much disk space usage can slow down your computer
- Can only store a certain amount
Floppy disk-Disadvantages
- Time consuming
- Out of fashion
- Limited capacity
- Not suitable for backing up data from other programs such as: Microsoft Excel, Word etc.
Security of system
Security is very important, if any files are misplaced or lost it will be very long to find and all the details will have to be reinstalled into the system. This will be very time consuming. The running of the business will become corrupted. There will be a need for securing the system and there are a couple of ways to secure the system:
- Using passwords to avoid anyone except from the people who work there to have access.
- Using Anti-virus will stop computers clashing, virus from getting in and slowing the system down.
- Using back-ups will be a safe thing to do if you are worried of losing confidential, important information.
- Using locked cells.
- CCTV
- Lock on the door
Data manipulation
The customer’s details would need to be entered into the spreadsheet. Formulae will then be entered calculating their BMI.
- Customers details will be entered into the members page
- Height and weight of the customer will then be entered into the calculator page
- The BMI will then appear having calculated the weight * Height
The BMI will then be entered into the categories page telling the customer what eight type they are e.g. Un
