Police
They use database, word processing and walky-talky and GPS-(Global Positioning System). In the office they use database to store the criminals’ details. They use word processing to send letters to the criminals about their appointment. The policeman use the walky-talky when they are on duty they can contact other policeman. By using the walky-talky they can contact each other and it is free. They use GPS to find the places they need to go to. They use GPS because it is very easy to the place they want to go to. By using the database as they can view the criminals records easily. Also by using the word processing they can type letters easily and print it off. By storing the prisoners’ information in a computerised system there are several advantages and disadvantages. One major advantage of computerised system is that it is all kept in one database; it is more efficient than using a paper system for instance. One disadvantages of the computerised system is that there is a possibility that virus might infect the computer and the computer might get crashed, so all the files can be lost.
The police have a website which is www.met.police.uk/. This website has lots of varies of things the users can do such as contacting the police, youngster information about drugs etc. This website of the police is very useful as the customer can go to the website and check things or report emergency, non-emergency or any other appropriate incidents. The website has mainly advantages. One advantage is that people who are interested in joining the police force they can contact the police through the website by signing up. One of the important things the website does is that it enables the general public to report on any incident, so the police force can take action. There are probably no disadvantages for this website because I personally believe that the website is very effective.

They let the members use the internet where the members can use it for their need and it is free. Even Microsoft excel could be used to calculate the price of the books. Internet is very useful for the members to use. They use telephones to contact the members about certain books or something. They use database as it is easy to see what books people borrow, what books are returned. Telephones are very useful when contacting members. ICT is used effectively in libraries. Libraries are normally situated mainly in High Streets because lots of people can go to it easily. One advantage of library is that library is very useful for all ages as they can go and do some research or read some books or go there for some quiet etc. The libraries even let the members borrow films, music, games etc. One disadvantage of library is that as they use computerised system to store all the members’ information if the computer gets infected, the computer can be crashed so all the files of the members’ can get lost and so the library has to be closed temporarily.

They use telephones to contact the customers about the bank details. They also might use mail merge to send letters to the customers. One main advantage of using the database, Microsoft excel etc is that it makes it simpler and easier for the staff to use the system. One disadvantage of these systems is that if there is a virus or the system broke down all the files and documents will be lost. ATM (Automatic Teller Machines) is located in the bank and just outside the bank. This is a very useful and effective system. One advantage of this system is that it enables the customers to take out their money from their account whenever they please. However, some people don’t know how to withdraw their money. One disadvantage of ATM is that it is a major attraction for criminals as they try several methods to withdraw the money from another person’s account. They normally steal the credit card from the person and they try to get the pin number from them, they put oil on the keypad before the person types their pin number so that they can see what numbers they press and lately the criminals use a small camera under the machine and track down the pin number.
