In this task, I will be analysing the various drama texts we used over my GCSE Drama course studying Women At War. To do this, I will be explaining and evaluating various explorative strategies.

Thought-tracking is used to convey one characters emotions and inward thoughts to the audience. This can be said by the actual character or by another member of the cast. Thought tracking can be useful to help develop a character. In Women At War we used thought tracking to show emotions, hopes and plans of some of the characters. I found thought-tracking effective because it was not always possible to convey emotions though facial expressions and other visual techniques.

Still image is used to create tension. It can be used at the beginning, middle or at the end of a performance. Still image is when a particular action which is frozen or paused and focused in on a significant time it the drama to mark the moment. The silence created by the still image can create great tension within the audience.
