Winston Churchill was born on 30 November 1874. He was born in a mansion called Blenheim Palace, in Oxfordshire, England. He grew up with a dream of getting into politics and eventually fulfilled his dream and became prime minister.

 

"This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning."

In parliament, Neville Chamberlain lost the vote of confidence and was forced to resign. To the delight of most of the people of Britain, Winston Churchill replaced him as prime minister. Chamberlain did not want to have a war and seemed to be scared of war. He gave the impression of a coward who was trying to get out of war with feeble negotiations and promises. Churchill however, gave the impression of being confident and more prepared for war.

Churchill, known as a tireless worker, was a prime minister who everyone in Britain looked up to. Throughout the war he gave an image of confidence and inspired people to be prepared for war. He gave famous speeches regularly and kept up morale. His speeches praised people’s bravery and made them feel proud of what they were doing. He was the publics hope.
