Comparison and Analysis of the use of Camerawork in Friends and The Office.

James Brough Comparison and Analysis of the use of Camerawork in Friends and The Office Camerawork The Office has a "docusoap" format, this is supported by ingenious camerawork, shots are often shaky, and frames are crowded. The raw documentary style is engrossing, the camera often moves with uncertainty as if it is not known what will happen next. The camera often pans quickly and unsteadily in order to obtain reaction shots. There is little consideration to position of elements within the frame, this all adds to the raw docusoap style. Zooming is often done shakily in order to catch reactions. The Office is made up of many two shots and the camerawork is unsteady, also characters often slightly slip out of frame momentarily and the camera must quickly adjust when this character becomes active. Friends is found in stark contrast to the office, it optimises exceptional quality camerawork. Many medium close shots are to be found, with all characters held neatly within the frame. The group shots are framed perfectly with all elements positioned appropriately. Everything is more calm and neat which demonstrates the high quality of the programme. Editing Firstly the title sequence of The Office has several cross-fades to set the location of Slough. The edit technique used most frequently is the cut, often to catch reactions it also maintains a

Aspects of Films We made a list of aspects o films at the beginning of the year and we thought that it would be a good idea to look at these and think about what we will do for each of the 10 things Lighting When we are inside everything will be well lit with the overhead lights but when we are outside there will only be natural lighting. This way things will look more creepy and things are likely to look more real. It should have the same effect as it did in the film The Blair Witch Project. Editing When we are editing we want it mainly to be full of jump cuts because this is the type that is used when directors want to build pace Atmosphere Dark, creepy. Many shadows. Build suspense with music. Plot Female student has an affair with a male teacher and then things turn nasty when she tries to end it. Costume Kate: school uniform (white shirt and black trousers) Graham: smart clothes, lab coat for in school and a dark jacket for outside. Music/sound For the main part of the film we will extract the audio and just rely on the images and the music. There will be the two voiceovers from the main characters and one final blood curdling scream to end it. Camera movements In our film most of the footage will be either still or just panning. We think this because if we try something too ambitious then the film will turn out looking very amateur. We think that

Rock Festival

Rock Festival As I walked through the gate I could hear the buzz of chatter. The smell of the food stalls wafted through the air. As I moved closer I could see the stage it was about 10 metres wide and about 5 in width. Almost everywhere people were seiging in to the camp. There were loads of music stores with all kinds of music. As the time passed people started to move towards the stage to try and get a good view. Suddenly the chatter died down and the announcer appeared on stage and introduced the first band which were s club seven to sing reach, as they got on stage there were quite a few boo's and hisses but by the end they were cheered off the stage. The rock festival went on and was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience. Finally after four hours of music the announcer came on stage and announced 'the mystery band' everyone had been waiting for "and now" said the announcer "to finish off this festival its Eminm" there were cheers and he went on stage. First he rapped 'my name is' and then ' I don't give a f***' and finally to round up a brilliant festival he rapped 'brain damage'. When he had finished he threw copies of his first and second album out to the crowd. A buzz of chatter rippled through the audience and people finally started to get up. I went to the other facilities while I waited for the queue to get out of the gate died down. I wondered around and before I

Erosion, Weathering, and Mass Movement

Erosion, Weathering, and Mass Movement Erosion is the break-down of rock and transportation of this material away. Weathering is a form of erosion involving elements of the weather, e.g. chemical weathering like corrosion of limestone, and mechanical weathering like exfoliation in deserts and freeze thaw (frost shattering) in colder areas. MASS MOVEMENT When large amounts of rock become unstable they will collapse. The contributing factors are rock type and excess water. (a) Slumping - large amount of rock will collapse along a line of weakness if the ground is saturated. (b) Land-slide - unstable rock collapses (usually in sections) (c) Rotational slip - rock slides along a slip
