For some people their interpretation from the teachings of disciples may have a downside. People get used to their own lifestyle and to them what the disciples taught may seem a strict and disciplined lifestyle. For example it is not uncommon nowadays for people to have abortions. Or to have sex before marriage and some people would say that being a disciple would have an old fashioned view of life and would turn people away from Christianity and becoming atheist. The parable of the seed explains the affect of Christianity on different people it begins by saying the first seed landed on the path; therefore the effect on Christianity will not work as would a seed not being able to grow on the path. The second seed lands on rocky ground this has little chance of growing, as would the affect on a person who listens about the religion and is a little interested but soon shakes off their ideas of becoming more involved. The next seed lands in thorns this has a better chance of growing this would represent somebody who shows a good interest in the religion and possibly goes to church for a few months but gradually looses interest in the religion. The final seed lands in good soil and flourishes as would the affect on a true Christian someone who sticks to his or her religion and that lives with them for life. And the good seed would have been the desired affect from the teachings of the disciples.
Another moral that the disciples taught people was in the story of the widows offering in this a rich man gives lots of money into a collection pot and shows off to people about just how rich he is, behind the rich man is a poor, old widow and puts very little money in Jesus says to the disciples “that lady has put more money in than anyone” meaning that miniscule amount of money meant more to her than what the rich man gave to the collection. This lady will have riches in heaven because she did not let money and riches take over her life.
To be a Christian/disciple you need to have certain qualities one of them is honesty it can be hard sometimes to tell the truth and it can sometimes hurt people but it is a necessary quality of not just disciples but everyone the world would run so much smoother if people were more honest. A disciple should also have some integrity something that everyone respects. Being a disciple has its rewards firstly will be the rewards in the afterlife if you have lived a good and honest life then you should receive eternal life. However there are temptations into withdrawing people from the honest lives, which people want to lead. To avoid being drawn into these temptations you have to avoid the seven deadly sins they are; pride/vanity is excessive belief in one's own abilities, that interferes with the individual's recognition of the grace of God. It has been called the sin from which all others arise. Pride is also known as Vanity.
Envy is the desire for others status, abilities, or situation.
Gluttony is an excessive desire to consume more than that which one requires.
Lust is an excessive craving for the pleasures of the body.
Anger is manifested in the individual who hates love and opts instead for fury. It is also known as Wrath.
Greed is the desire for material wealth or gain. It is also called Avarice or Covetousness.
Sloth is the avoidance of physical or spiritual work.
To avoid all of these is difficult almost impossible but if it can be avoided to a minimum then you will be a good disciple and will have listened to all that the disciples taught and they would have had a large affect on your life and you will be the seed that landed in the good soil.
