In this scene the audience respond to Juliet in a weary way because they know something is going to happen to her but she doesn’t know.
Romeo would speak his lines in a strong serious voice trying to make Juliet take in what he was saying, like ‘’or, if thou wily, not but sworn my love’’ shows he truly loves her.
Romeo and Juliet describe their love as ‘’bright angel’’, and ‘’stony limits cannot hold love out’’ which shows they love each other no matter what they say. They say these things to each other to express to each other how much they love each other.
Their names are so important of Romeo and Juliet in showing the continuing turmoil because they are expressing how they feel towards each other.
Juilet uses the imagine of a rose to emphasise this by saying ‘’may prove a beauteous flower when we next meet’’ this shows the audience that she really loves him.
Juliet reacts to Romeo when he was listening into her inner thoughts by acting really angry with him but really she is embarrassed you can tell this by the way she says ‘’ come to thy heart as that within my breast’’ that shows she is not wanting any one to hear what she says by the way she is talking. Romeo diverts Juliet’s attention away from her being annoyed at him for listening in by saying ‘’I take thee at thy word’’. This shows that he is agreeing with what she said, he plactes her by saying ‘’with loves light wings did is o-er-perch these walls’’ which shows that he wants to be more loving with her.
Juliet justifies herself to Romeo by saying she loves him too much to be sensible ‘’for stony limits cannot hold love out’’ and also ‘’therefore thy kinsmen are no stop to me’’ this shows the audience that she loves him no matter what.
Juliet coerces Romeo into marriage by saying that he is truly honorable he will marry her. ‘‘Thy purpose marriage sent me word tomorrow,’’ this shows the audience that she is serious about the marriage.
Juliet fears Romeo will get caught. He placates her by using sea imagery to explain he would risk anything to for her by saying ‘’The orchard walls are high and hard to climb’’ which tells the audience it will be hard but nothing will stop there love for each other.
Shakespeare builds up the tension in the scene by the nurse shouting ‘’madam’’ which makes it sound like Romeo is going to get caught, then Juliet shouts ‘’by and by, I come’’ which shows that the nurse isn’t going to come out.
The outlook for the couple’s relationships at the end of this scene is that it may work or may not but they have managed to sneak around being together and haven’t got caught yet and they have already said that they are getting married. It may not go to well because both of their families do not get on with each other and it they get caught they will be in serious trouble.
With reference to the beginning of the play the audience will be feeling upset because they know what is going to happen to remeoJuliet, which makes it worse because they are in so much love and they don’t know anything is going to happen to them.
The dramatic irony in this scene is when the audience notice what is going to happen to Romeo and Juliet, which is death and what makes it, worse is that Romeo and Juliet don’t realise.
