To kill a mockingbird.

This review was on a film called “to kill a mockingbird”. To kill a mockingbird is based on the book, also with the same name, written by Harper Lee. To kill a mockingbird is about the trial of a Blackman accused of raping, a white girl in a southern town of America during the depression. The story is about racism, prejudice, courage and growing up. This review wished to highlight the good and bad points of the film, and what happened in the film.

1 thing I liked and the film used was special effects to enhance scenes, for example, lighting up music and using body language to express feelings. The scene that uses all the special effects was when Jem returns to the radley gate to collect his trousers, so then the following special effects were used; the whistle of wind, the rustle of trees and silence beyond the ground. However 1 thing I didn’t really like was that the film contains less detail compared to the book, for example talking about someone’s family and background. The scene that doesn’t use that is the part when they talk about a boy Boo Radley and his father MR Radley but they don’t mention much about his mother or what happened to her.

If I had to mark this film out of 5 I would give it a 4/5 because the film wasn’t that bad because it did use lots of interesting adjectives while talking and lots of use of facial expression.

My review.

In a small town called Maycombe in the southern America so many people lived there who was very together, there names were Tom Robinson, Mayella Ewell, Bob Ewell, Boo Radley, Calpurnia and the Cunningham’s, but one very special person named Atticus Finch lived there he was very brave and courageous he had two kids, there names were jem and scout, scout was a girl about 6 years old but when the film finishes she’s about 9 years old. Jems a boy about ten years of age and he really loves his family, he cares for his little sister he cant even let her out of his sight.

In the film one day a Cunningham came around to drop of some fruit and vegetables that he owned atticus because of his help so Scout called him out to put away the fruit and vegetables and say thanks.

Later on in the evening in the film Scout and Jem went outside to play when suddenly they met their good friend Dill, he was nice boy, he was really friendly so they started to play games suddenly when he came up with a really, scary and rumoured story about a boy named Boo Radley he was rumoured to be locked up in a shed by his father because he’s a maniac. People say that he is about 6 feet tall, with popped eyes and has yellowy and rotten teeth, which hunts for big squirrels at night. So then they got scared and started to play on a wheel that Scout went inside that Dill and Jem pushed down a road which was steep enough to roll down so they done that accidentally when the wheel stopped at the Radley porch so then Dill and Jem were shouting at Scout to get up and run but she couldn’t because she kind of got hurt so then Jem went running down to help scout get up and run.

Afterwards at night they all dared themselves to go to Boo’s shed and get a glimpse of him so they went. When they got near there, they’re where so many trees, leaves and gates that made noise so they had to be very careful. When they got their going through so many gates Dill went up to the shed trying to look for him through the window suddenly when a 6 feet shadow appeared scaring Jem, Scout and Dill away so they started screaming and shouting when they got this gate where Jems trousers got caught so Scout went back and helped him. When Jem got un-caught his trousers were still at that gate so then they didn’t know what to do suddenly when Dills mother called him back at home because it was getting late, so then Jem decided he would go back to get his trousers but Scout stopped him because she was really scared that something might happen to him, but Jem said before you count to ten I will be back so she said alright so he went. When Scout was counting she went over 10 and went over to 11 when a dog got shot and everybody thought it was at some person so then Scout got really scared but then surprisingly Jem returned with his trousers when their father Attcus called them in because it was bed time.

Afterwards when he tucked them in bed Atticus came outside suddenly when Maycombe’ s sheriff came by to ask and tell something to him and that was in Maycombe a black man named Tom Robinson was accused of raping a white girl named Mayella Ewell so if he wanted to would he be Tom Robinson’ s lawyer so Atticus said yes.

In the film the next morning it was the first day of school for Jem and Scout, but Scout didn’t want to go because she had to wear a dress, which se didn’t really like because she was a tomboy but Jem was really excited that he didn’t eat his breakfast or say hi to Atticus or his auntie who came over so he ran out of the house when Atticus called him back in to wait for scout who was being stubborn to come out and have her breakfast suddenly when their cook Calpurnia called her out to come and eat her breakfast so she did meanwhile Jem was forcing her to hurry up so she forgot about eating her breakfast and ran out of the house with Jem who forgot to get his bag and lunchbox so he had to come back and get it.

When they got to school scout got really excited so then she started to wrestle this boy who she really hated and kind of liked as a friend but not that much when Jem came and told her to stop he asked the boy who was a part of the Cunningham’s to come over for tea so he did. When they all got home they had tea but when Calpurnia got syrup over to the table for desert the Cunningham had poured it all over his food so then Scout started moaning at him suddenly when Calpurnia dragged her over into the kitchen and told her to talk with respect and to have her dinner nicely so she did.

Later on after the Cunningham had went home it was bed time for Jem and Scout suddenly when they remembered about Boo and told Atticus the story about Boo Radley and asked if the rumours were true but Atticus had said maybe because sometimes they’d be lies and lies are scary and not truthful so the best thing would be to do is to stay away from the house.

So then the next morning Jem and Scout went to school when they suddenly remembered their father talking about court case that was on that day so they escaped school to see what happened, but when they got there the whole room was packed with people so then Atticus’ s friend aw them and told them to go away, so they went away.

Afterwards they went home when Calpurnia had given them their dinner after Atticus had come home. When Atticus came home he said he had to go and visit Tom Robinson’ s wife to see how she’ s doing so then Jem and Scout were bugging Atticus if they could go with him so he said yes as long as they don’t fall asleep so they said they wont so then off they went.

When they got there Scout had fallen asleep but Jem hadn’t so Atticus came out of his car and said to Jem to look after his sister. When Atticus came out of his car he saw Tom Robinson’ s wife crying so he took her inside with her friends, suddenly when Mylla’ s father Bo came up to Atticus’ s car trying to scare Jem he asked Tom’ s son to and get Atticus so he did and told him to go away but then Bob said you supportive white nigger then spat in his face while everyone was watching so then Atticus went back in his car and drove back home. When they got home the towns sheriff came over and asked Atticus if he would go outside Tom’s jail and guard him so Atticus said yes so he took a lamp, a chair and a book to keep him entertained so he wouldn’t get board, but the only reason Atticus went to guard Tom was because his life was in danger because these people wanted to kidnap him and then kill him but that couldn’t happen because the courts decision wasn’t made yet by the judge.

The next morning it was time for Atticus to go to the court to fight the case so Tom would be free. When he got there the court was packed with people again. Later on before the court case had started Jem and Scout secretly went there to see what happened, they got through into the courtroom they said it was really hot so then the case had started. In the case there was so many evidences against Mayella but Tom didn’t win he wasn’t free he was put in jail for the rest of his life or he could have got a severe punishment for which he didn’t do. So then all Tom’ s friends stood up from their seats to Atticus to show some respect that they don’t blame Atticus that he didn’t do his best.

More lately in the film all I can remember is that:

Scout had a little show to do in school and she was the ham.
After the show scout had lost all her clothes so Jem asked her to come back on Sunday and ask the teachers to open it up for her.
When they were going home MR Ewell attacked Scout and Jem.
Jem got hurt but Scout didn’t because Boo came to save them.
At the end of the film Boo turned out to be a nice man.
All Boo wanted to do is protect Jem and Scout from bad people.
If you had watched that film you would have found out that rumours are not always true.
