E.g. 57=5 spaces from the first word 7 from the next
- We need to count the number of letters of each of our 50 words in each article and put them in a chart.
- Next we need to calculate the average word length and analyze the results.
- When I select words I will ignore
Names of people
Names of places
And numbers
- Now we need to draw up a tally chart for our results.
- From the tally chart we need to draw 2 bar line graphs.
E.g.
- Then we need to figure out the mode median range and mean.
Mode: most frequent number
Mean: largest take away lowest
Median: middle number
Range: add all up and divide by total amount.
RESULTS:
These are my results tables for my number of letters in a word in a tabloid.
This is my results table for the number of letters in a word.
This is my tally chart for letter length in a word in a tabloid.
This is my tally chart for letter length in a word in a broadsheet.
This is my column graph for length of letters in a word in a tabloid.
The mode is clearly: 3letters
The mean is: 10 (to work out the mean I took the lowest from the highest from the word length so 11 take away 1 = 10)
The range is 5.18 (to work out the range I times the frequency on the tally by the word length and add then up so 1times1+6times2=13 ect.)
This is my graph to show number of letters in a word in a broadsheet.
The mode is clearly 2
The mean is 10
The range is 5.18
