Explain how this teaching about discipleship might affect the life of a Christian today.

Christians are called to the same life of prayer, sacrifice and service this is the same as in Jesus’ day. We can still follow in his footsteps in the present and hopefully in the future. Disciples led people in the right direction, which was to worship God. The disciples were called to do jobs for Jesus like be with him, heal people like in the story Jarius’ daughter, pray with people, be prepared to suffer or die, preach and finally cast out evil. These don’t sound like the normal things to do, but they were. In the present day Christians show their Discipleship in different ways like a Lay person could read in a church, some other person could take religious orders and some people could go and be ordained. In the modern day the belief in discipleship could affect a layperson in the local parish by when someone has died or just in everyday normal life in the church.

         In the near past there were people all around the world who dedicated their life to God. One example is Leonard Cheshire he started off as a charity worker he learned to speak German and went to live there.
